Quark Appoints Kamar Aulakh as New CEO

February 10, 2004 - Quark Inc. today announced that Kamar Aulakh has been appointed CEO of Quark in addition to his current role as president of the company. In this new capacity, Aulakh is responsible for all operations of the Quark companies worldwide. "Kamar has a profound vision that will lead Quark into the future, and proven expertise at running a global technology company," said Fred Ebrahimi, who remains chairman of Quark's board of directors. "He has built world-class software development centers in the United States and India, and has demonstrated his development and managerial expertise countless times over the last eight years. We place the utmost confidence in the continued success of Quark under his leadership." Aulakh joined Quark in 1995 and led Quark's research and development efforts. During his tenure, he created a development organization that currently includes approximately 1,000 engineers worldwide, as well as a global manufacturing and services infrastructure. Aulakh has also been instrumental in establishing dependable release schedules and has continued to improve the quality and reliability of Quark products. New executive team members Since his appointment as president of Quark in July 2003, Aulakh has promoted Charles Mueller to senior vice president of finance, and hired Cliff Kaplan as vice president of business development for OEM products.
