Goss / Heidelberg M600 Quality Upgrade at KHL Printing

Press release from the issuing company

KHL Printing, the largest privately owned print shop in Singapore, invested last year in a quality upgrade package from DCOS for their two M600 presses. With some 20 presses; Coldset, Heatset and Sheet fed, KHL holds a superior market position in their territory.

DCOS introduced a retrofit quality package optimized for the M600 press type in 2011. The M600 press series has a huge install base worldwide and there is a need for a cost effective retrofit package for the CPC quality control system to extend the press life cycle. The retrofit package upgrades the old CPC control system; besides making the quality system future-proof it also increases efficiency and quality while reducing waste and start-up time.

“We took measures to future-proof our machines, stated KHL’s Plant Manager Wilson Ho. At the same time we needed to increase our efficiency and reduce waste”.

Both M600’s at KHL Printing has been equipped with a new ink control system with CIP3 presetting, and one of the machines was upgraded with the DRCS closed loop register system.

“We have solutions available to retrofit any press, this package for M600 presses is customized out of our standard systems and it’s prepared to upgrade the CPC system without disturbing production, says Mattias Andersson, Managing Director DCOS. A user-friendly operator control system in combination with ink presetting, closed loop register and possible closed loop color makes M600 production more efficient and profitable”.

Since the DRCS closed loop register system is capable of reading an unsupported web and can be installed before the dryer, this provides a very fast control loop for the color to color register.

Wilson Ho continues; “The systems were installed in January and the installation went very smoothly and according to schedule. The waste reduction was obvious immediately after the installation and now three months later we can make a conclusion that the waste reduction exceeded our expectations and our M600’s are upgraded for many more years of operation”
