Successful Genius 52UV Open House in Vienna

Press release from the issuing company

As part of an open-house tour beginning in Vienna, KBA-MePrint AG revealed the sheer breadth of the range of applications covered by the Genius 52UV B3 sheetfed offset press. The more than 30 people in attendance had a chance to see for themselves the impressive benefits of the Genius 52UV at Druckwerker, a Vienna-based provider of printing services.

Printers need to realise something if they want to stand out from the competition. Clients expect their print providers to be really flexible these days - printing on paper alone is not nearly enough any more. With the Genius 52UV, KBA-MePrint AG has a solution which opens up a unique range of applications for users by combining UV and waterless technology. Besides paper and board, the Genius 52UV can also cope with plastics, lenticular films, or even wood up to 0.8 mm thick. The B3 sheetfed offset press also has great environmental credentials to impress the market. Currently, more than 750 Genius 52UV printing units are in use worldwide, including five at the innovative Druckwerker GmbH outfit in Vienna.

Around 30 visitors were able to get their own insight into this ideal machine concept under working conditions at the company's premises. The presentation on the Genius 52UV focused on how quickly jobs can be changed when different print media like chromo board and PET films are involved. As well as the operator benefiting from automatic plating up, the keyless inking unit means the Genius 52UV needs just ten sheets of start-up waste until the first usable sheet is produced - something which favours cost-effective production, even for expensive print media. The fifth inking unit, which comes as standard, means the Genius 52UV is even more flexible.

Extraordinary quality
The combination of UV and waterless technology offers users a host of other tangible benefits. Since the Genius 52UV does not involve any water, the printing process is totally stable. The kind of registration problems printers usually have to contend with because of paper distortion do not occur at all with the Genius 52UV. But the Genius 52UV has plenty to offer in terms of quality as well. The printing plates used for waterless offset printing ensure dots have really sharp edges, which in turn ensures details appear extraordinarily sharp. The wider colour gamut compared with conventional offset printing means the Genius UV52 produces high colour saturation, thereby making colours more brilliant - these are all things which help printers in terms of their market positioning. Designed as a single-operator machine,
the Genius 52UV is perfect for small and medium-sized runs, with its short set-up times and low start-up waste.

A sustainable concept
The environmental credentials of the Genius 52UV owe much to the waterless
technology, since there is no need for dampening solutions or additives, for example. The fact there is no isopropanol or powder, along with the low waste rate, also contributes to the environmental concept, making the B3 sheetfed offset press an interesting alternative for all printers looking to position themselves on the basis of their climate-related credentials. The sustainable concept associated with the Genius 52U has now also been officially recognised, with KBA-MePrint being granted a WLO Emission Certificate. The certificate for low-emission waterless offset printing is also a key prerequisite in many countries in terms of applying for the relevant subsidies.
