February 12, 2004 -- RR Donnelley is offering a free webcast seminar on its DistributionOptimizer solution on Thursday, Feb. 19 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm (eastern). The focus of the seminar will be to help magazine publishers learn how to reduce their distribution costs through the co-palletization program offered by the U.S. Postal Service. Co-palletization allows pre-sorted, bundled magazines from different publishers to be combined on the same pallet for deeper postal penetration and additional postal discounts. The U.S. Postal Service is encouraging all publishers to palletize since mail on pallets is less expensive to handle and less prone to damage. In addition, the U.S. Postal Service says palletization can reduce its processing costs which will help constrain rates for all publishers.
