Publishers Press Orders New Goss Pacesetter Saddlestitcher

Thursday, March 29, 2012

Press release from the issuing company

Publishers Press will install the new 22,000-books-per-hour saddlestitcher, its 15th Goss finishing system, in the Lebanon Junction plant this summer.

“Netting close to the full rated speed, when the job permits, while achieving advanced product personalization, is what distinguishes Pacesetter systems, and our crews have been able to do that consistently with our existing 2200,” explains Joe Sweeney, bindery manager. “Those stitchers are more than twice as productive as our older stitchers. That – combined with faster makereadies and minimal maintenance requirements – prompted the decision to invest in a third one.”

The new Pacesetter 2200 saddlestitcher at Publishers Press will feature six horizontal hoppers and be equipped for selective binding and ink jet personalization. Goss International will supply an FS-22 flying stitcher, HT-22 trimmer, mail table and BS60 stacker with the system.

Publishers Press, a fifth-generation family-owned business founded in 1866, has consistently invested in advanced finishing technology, including ink jetting and co-mailing capabilities, to improve the impact of its publications while reducing production costs. The company produces more than 1,000 publication titles in run lengths from 5,000 to 500,000 copies at facilities in Shepherdsville and Lebanon Junction, just south of Louisville, Kentucky.
