WoodWing Enterprise 7.6 Helps Publishing to the New iPad

Tuesday, March 20, 2012

Press release from the issuing company

WoodWing has enhanced the Digital Publishing capabilities of its multi-channel publishing system Enterprise with the launch of version 7.6, helping publishers take full advantage of the high resolution of the new iPad. Both for print and digital publishing, Enterprise 7.6 also includes a number of new features for its multi-channel editor. WoodWing has continued to further optimize usability and strengthen both performance and efficiency of the Enterprise system. This update enables publishers to publish their media-rich content even more efficiently to print, Web, social media, smartphones and tablets. Visitors to the WoodWing Xperience taking place in Amsterdam on March 27-28 will get the latest news and in-depth information about Enterprise, as well as a blueprint of the future of WoodWing´s multi-channel publishing system.

With the release of version 7.6 of its multi-channel publishing system Enterprise, WoodWing continues to make multi-channel publishing easier and more efficient, providing publishers with a large array of improvements and new features.

Enterprise 7.6 improvements for Adobe DPS and the new iPad
With version 7.6 of Enterprise, WoodWing has extended the support of the .folio format used by the Adobe DPS. Enterprise now enables designers to import and merge .folio files, making it easy to re-use existing material or to handle digital advertisements.

WoodWing´s renowned Artboard feature, enabling publishers to effortlessly create content for multiple display sizes and aspect ratios, is now also available for the creation of .folio files. This is a great time-saver for publishers that wish to publish on the new Apple iPad with its double-resolution Retina display. The option to export background images as a .pdf instead of a .jpg is another helpful feature for the new iPad, resulting in a much smaller file size, optimizing the download experience.

The new Digital Publishing features also include new and enhanced options to publish and manage content from Enterprise to the Adobe Distribution Service.

Content Station 7.6 offers improved support for tables and spreads
The multi-channel editor included in version 7.6 of WoodWing´s content management application Content Station now offers enhanced handling of tables. Designers can easily edit tables similar to a spreadsheet application and can copy-and-paste even complex tables within a document. Support for previewing facing pages directly within the multi-channel editor is another new feature.

The new version also offers an updated audio and video player. In addition, WoodWing implemented many user-interface enhancements based on customer feedback. Collaboration within the editorial and design teams will benefit from the new Inline Notes feature.

“Publishing their content to print and online platforms as well as to tablets is already part of the daily business of a growing number of magazine, newspapers and corporate publishers worldwide," said Erik Schut, President of WoodWing Software. "Now it’s important to continue to improve the efficiency of multi-channel publishing, in order to bring the resources required to a minimum.”
