Contex Receives High Honors From Independent BLI Report

Press release from the issuing company

Contex, the world's leading developer of wide format scanning and imaging solutions, today announces that it has received high honors from Buyers Laboratory LLC, an independent equipment testing lab, for the HD Ultra 4290i+ wide format scanner. In a comprehensive test performed by BLI, the HD Ultra excelled in scan quality, durability, speed, and productivity. The Contex scanner also outperformed a leading competitor in the series of tests ranging from ease-of-use and durability to image quality and batch scanning. BLI found that "the HD Ultra represents superior value for money, given its clear superiority in overall performance."

"It was a pleasure testing the HD Ultra," comments David Sweetnam, European Lab and Research Manager for BLI. "To date, this scanner is the most productive wide format scanner that we've seen in the market. It's exactly what businesses need it to be: fast, affordable and reliable."

"The independent report from BLI validates our own testing and supports our claim that the HD Ultra is the market's most productive scanner available," says Brian Honeycutt, Product Manager, Contex. "This means that our customers have the most advanced technology available to scan documents with superb image quality."

BLI's productivity and image quality testing included a series of single-page A1 landscape scans. BLI reports that the Contex model "outperformed the competition in index color mode across all resolutions, aided by a faster pre-scan procedure. Honors were in favor of the Contex model, which was faster at all resolutions."

The report also notes that "batch scanning of multiple documents is easy with the Contex scanner due to its large document table and ability to advance load documents." Using a Gigabit Ethernet connection, the Contex scanner "outperformed the competition, achieving between 20-40% more scans per hour, aided by a faster pre-scan procedure."

The Contex model also "excelled in its speed to copy" a single A1 landscape page to a Canon iPF8300S wide-format printer in all modes. BLI reported favorably on batch scan in both draft and high-quality copy modes, noting, "During batch copy tests, the Contex model required a much shorter time to complete the batch scanning process in both draft and high-quality copy modes, freeing up staff to conduct other tasks while copying commenced."

Released in Q4 2011, Contex's HD Ultra has been receiving rave reviews for its advancements in speed, productivity and image quality. The wide format scanner recently received a Wide-Format Imaging 2012 Top Product Award for Best Wide Format Scanner (24 inches+).

ENERGY STAR compliant, the HD Ultra is available in 36- and 42-inches, and it is the most field-upgradeable wide format scanner in its class. The scanner comes in two versions:Professional, for high-volume applications, and Office, for daily office use or walk-up scanning. The HD Ultra is also available as a multi-function product (MFP), which includes a space-saving high stand that allows users to combine the wide format scanner with most large format printers.
