J & M Reproduction: First Commercial Printer in Michigan to Install iGen3

Press release from the issuing company

TROY, Mich. & ROCHESTER, N.Y.--Feb. 9, 2004-- J & M Reproduction Corporation has become the first commercial printer in Michigan to install a DocuColor iGen3(TM) Digital Production Press from Xerox Corporation. The Detroit-area company will use the digital press to provide customers high-volume print-on-demand services and to expand its offerings to include variable information printing, which permits content to vary from one page to the next, to create personalized documents for customers. The 100 page-per-minute DocuColor iGen3 offers capabilities that traditional offset presses can't: short print runs, quick job turnarounds and personalized printing. According to owner John Milanowski, "The DocuColor iGen3 can do for quick-turnaround color and variable printing what the DocuTech did for black-and-white. I've been in the commercial printing business for more than 40 years, and the quality I see coming off the DocuColor iGen3 is amazing." J & M is currently printing short-run training and service manuals, booklets, university textbooks, personalized postcards, and catalogs on the DocuColor iGen3, and Milanowski says they will not only look to transition existing jobs from black-and-white to color, but also focus on producing marketing collaterals for new clients. The company started offering high-volume digital color in 1998. Company officials wanted to expand their digital color portfolio, and according to Milanowski, the DocuColor iGen3 was the only digital press to meet their requirements of high image quality, speed, reliability, color consistency and variable-information capabilities. "If our business didn't keep up with this technology, we'd fall behind our competitors and not be able to generate new revenue. We're hoping this is the first of many DocuColor iGen3's in our shop," he said. According to Milanowski, by investing in the digital press, the company can now offer customers color documents that are printed only in the quantities they need and when they need them. Business clients also have the flexibility to tailor and target more relevant marketing messages to individual recipients on a timely basis. "The variable opportunities are everywhere -- these types of jobs just aren't possible with conventional printing." A Xerox SmartPress Consultant, part of Xerox's customer business development team, worked onsite at J & M to ensure the company took maximum advantage of the DocuColor iGen3's capabilities. J & M Reproduction Corporation is a 70-person business offering digital and conventional printing, a full-service bindery and finishing. They are a long-time Xerox customer and an early adopter of the DocuTech black-and-white digital production printers. They currently operate four DocuTech 6115 Production Publishers and two DocuColor 12 copier/printers in addition to the DocuColor iGen3.
