Callas Software Presents Latest Version of pdfaPilot at CeBIT 2012

Press release from the issuing company

Callas software is happy to announce their presence at CeBIT 2012, where they will showcase the latest version of their flagship product. Callas pdfaPilot 3 brings full support for the new PDF/A-3 standard announced for 2012, making it possible to archive the original document (such as Word, Excel, XML…) inside the PDF/A file. Integration with Microsoft SharePoint facilitates the creation of PDF/A files in larger office environments. Guaranteed PDF/A conversion utilizes advanced processing methods to convert virtually any PDF file to PDF/A. For high-volume environments, pdfaPilot Server can now be installed as a Windows service and load balancing between different pdfaPilot Servers instantly enables unlimited processing power.

Callas software would like to welcome you at their booth in Hall 3, stand A18 from March 6 – 10, 2012, in Hannover, Germany where you can discover how companies and organizations can easily archive their documents as PDF/A with pdfaPilot 3.

Archiving native documents

Callas pdfaPilot 3 already has support for the upcoming PDF/A-3 standard, expected to be released later in 2012. This new part of the PDF/A standard brings with it the possibility to store any file – even non-PDF files – inside PDF/A-3 container files. This enables creating long-term archival documents that carry the native documents or dynamic data in them.

Guaranteed PDF/A conversion

When archiving documents it is extremely important that all documents can be archived. To enable this, pdfaPilot 3 uses advanced processing methods to guarantee conversion to PDF/A. If possible the PDF file will be optimized and brought into line with the PDF/A standard by optimizing the internal PDF structure. If that fails however, the file can be converted into an image. Good to know: the text is completely preserved and remains fully searchable in your archive.

Large environments: SharePoint and distributed processing

For users of SharePoint, the new version of callas pdfaPilot allows easier creation of PDF/A files. By integrating pdfaPilot 3 with the Microsoft application platform, documents of various formats, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Project, Publisher, etc. can be converted directly to PDF/A within SharePoint. Another major new feature is support for distributed processing. This enables pdfaPilot Server to be configured in such a way that it does load balancing between any number of additional servers in a highly efficient and easy to maintain way.

Pricing and availability

callas pdfaPilot 3 is available immediately and comes in two versions.

  • callas pdfaPilot Server 3 is on the market at 4.499 Euro and offers both hot folder automation and close integration through a CLI interface and a full SDK. It also provides multi-processor support for checking and fixing PDF/A files.
  • callas pdfaPilot Desktop 3 is available for 379 Euro and offers the broadest PDF/A support on the market in the easiest package. callas pdfaPilot Desktop works on single documents or – using its batch functionality – on complete folders at a time.
