Press release from the issuing company

HANOVER PARK, Ill., February 2004 – Fujifilm Electronic Imaging (FFEI) was recently honored with two awards from the UK’s top business magazine, Management Today. FFEI manufactures much of Fujifilm’s prepress equipment, including the Sumo imagesetter, the Ninja and Saber family of platesetters and the Celebrant software, for the United States and other part of the world. FFEI was awarded the “Most Improved Manufacturing Plant” category and was also runner up in the “Best Factory Award” category, demonstrating that is possesses a healthy manufacturing business with clear controls and an excellent management team. “FFEI is extremely pleased to accept this year’s award from Management Today,” says Andy Cook, managing director of FFEI. “Our ability to combine patented technology with an efficient manufacturing facility ensures that we continue to offer low-cost economies to our suppliers, providing them with a win-win situation.” In addition to winning awards in the United Kingdom, FFEI’s efforts have also garnered accolades here in the United States. The acousto-optic deflector (AOD) multi-laser beam technology, developed by FFEI and used in both the Sumo imagesetter and the Saber series of violet laser platesetters, was awarded the GATF InterTech award for the development of new technology in 2002. “Thanks to the efforts of FFEI, we’re able to provide our customers with some of the fastest and most reliable equipment available in the graphic arts industry today,” notes Steve Bennett, vice president of product marketing and communications for Enovation Graphic Systems, Inc., which distributes Fujifilm equipment in the U.S. “As pressure to work faster and smarter continues to build, printers are looking for opportunities to reduce the time required to complete a job. The AOD multi-laser technology in both the Sumo and Saber series has helped them do just that.” Judges for the latest award examined many areas, including lead times, flexibility, efficiency, inventory control, productivity and delivery performance. Management Today highlighted FFEI’s capability to produce products that are not only manufactured to the highest standards but those that also meet the environmental requirements of the customer. “The combination of an intelligent management team and a high performing manufacturing plant, ensures that our products continue to deliver the exceptional performance that the market expects from Fujifilm,” adds Cook.
