Dayton, Ohio (October 28, 2003) – Scitex Digital Printing today announced the expansion of the VersaMark Vantage product line and introduced one of the new models to attendees at Xplor International, a premiere trade show for the printing industry. Vantage now offers the same modular and flexible range of configurations that has become synonymous with the VersaMark brand name. Users can begin with a 1-up simplex monochrome configuration and grow all the way to a 2-up duplex full color configuration. “When we introduced Vantage in May of 2002,” said Steve Coburn, manager, Systems Product Management at Scitex Digital Printing, “we did so with the intention of creating an entry level VersaMark product that we called ‘The affordable entry into Business Color’. Customer reaction was overwhelmingly positive due to the attractive pricing, compact size and overall capability of the Vantage. The other reaction was a straightforward, ‘we want more!’ Customers wanted the Vantage system to be able to grow and keep pace with their company’s growth: 1-up to 2-up, simplex to duplex and monochrome to full color. With today’s announcement we’re proud to say, ’mission accomplished.’” The new Vantage models integrate the same high quality, high reliability imaging technology, but now the product line incorporates several significant configuration changes. The original Vantage was capable of 1-up duplex or 2-up simplex printing with a maximum configuration of five printheads for 4/1 (process color over black) 1-up printing. The new Vantage product line enables users to print 2-up duplex in black, spot color or process color and every configuration in between -- eleven in all. To create a system that delivers an even greater level of performance, the base system now operates at 350 feet per minute (1,527 8.5” x 11” impressions per minute – 2-up duplex) with planned future upgrades to 500 feet per minute. Users will have the option of selecting from two basic controller options, the System Controller 400 that supports Scitex Digital Printing’s native IJPDS or the Data Controller 300 that supports industry standard IPDS. All Vantage models also use the same low cost consumables as other VersaMark products to deliver the low operating cost demanded by customers. Scitex Digital Printing expects to begin shipping new Vantage systems early in 2004.
