Print Revolution Selects Datalogics

Press release from the issuing company

Chicago, IL - October 27, 2003— San Antonio-based Print Revolution, Inc. today announced it has selected Datalogics’ DL Formatter DL-1000 Personalization Engine to provide exclusive composition services for its successful Web-based print ordering system. Originally designed as an online system for commercial printing customers to order and track their print orders, Print Revolution became a standalone product several years ago. It is now available as an application service provider (ASP) offering to provide printing companies with instant e-commerce capability, allowing them to compress processing and delivery cycles and significantly improving margins. “This system has taken a product – stationery – that is typically a money loser for printing companies and made it extremely profitable,” said Leonard Lopez, chief executive officer of Print Revolution. “One of the critical elements to our system is a top-class PDF proofing capability. The DL-1000 all-PDF workflow makes it ideal for us, allowing customers to design documents in various other programs, and export them as PDF files, providing great flexibility both for customers to view and proof and later for use by the composition system. We are very pleased to have made this arrangement with Datalogics.” Datalogics’ DL Formatter’s key feature is that it supports a wide variety of industry-standard, optimized output formats enabling almost any digital press to be driven at rated speed. “Print Revolution’s integration of the DL-1000 is a perfect business application for our product,” said Kevin McNeill, vice president of sales and marketing at Datalogics. “The fact that the system was designed by a printer for the printing industry and that it is compatible with such a variety of design tools should create strong product demand among printers.” “With more and more printing equipment and pre-press functions being totally computerized, an online order-ing system makes good business sense,” said Lopez. “We spent many years developing our product to provide cost-efficiencies and faster turnaround for our own customers and now see it has broad appeal for other printers and their customers.” The system will allow small- to medium-sized printers to compete much more effectively with larger printing operations and level the playing field considerably, Lopez said. Having Print Revolution’s highly user-friendly, service offering available to them, means that smaller printers will not need to invest the time and money in the custom programming needed to develop, test and implement a sophisticated e-commerce system from scratch, freeing them to immediately open new markets and sources of revenue from new and existing customers. Print Revolution’s easy-to-use interface allows even novice users to edit, order and proof business cards, letterhead and envelopes with a few mouse clicks. The system also offers modules for forms, posters, sales sheets and brochures. Installation and initial set-up and design are also simple. The system allows clients to make changes to a docu-ment and view a new proof online within seconds, eliminating telephone tag or any need to send faxes back and forth and exponentially improving turnaround time. The flexibility of the Print Revolution system makes it very cost-efficient for small businesses and individuals, who can order wherever they have Internet access, but the system also offers the built-in sophisticated features larger organizations demand, including billing and management controls at a variety of levels. For instance, a manager or gatekeeper within an organization can oversee all orders and interactions between the company and Print Revolution, set ordering ceilings, and coordinate billing by credit card, purchase order or directly to an individual cost center. Delivery can be to a central or field office or to an individual. In the most recent version of Print Revolution, multiple orders can be made on a single screen, further reducing time spent ordering routine stationery items. Print Revolution’s new one-click approval for all orders in the queue further reduces time expenditure on routine print orders.
