Dingley Press Develops Mobile Apps for Catalogers

Monday, January 09, 2012

Press release from the issuing company

The Dingley Press recently created and launched Android and iOS-compatible mobile apps for Cintas Corporation’s Uniform SourceBook catalog.   The apps, which are available in both the Android Market and the iTunes Store, are a first for Cintas.  After creating a Dynamic Edition™ digital catalog for the Cintas website, the corporate uniform supplier asked Dingley to develop an application for mobile devices.  Offering the catalog via a mobile app opens up a new retail channel for Cintas and allows technology savvy customers to view their products in a very convenient way.

The Cintas Uniform SourceBook app contains many features catalog shoppers currently enjoy in their printed and online versions.  Readers can flip through the mobile catalog page by page, find products by using the table of contents or with the search capability that is integrated into the application.  Embedded links allow the user to tap on an image to reveal more details about the product.  Customers can also add the item to their shopping cart and continue browsing.

Users of the app are pleasantly surprised when they receive notification that the latest catalog is available for download and even more surprised when they see that past editions remain accessible because the app was designed to house multiple editions for frequent shoppers.  Mobile catalog customers can also share the catalog with others via email or tap a link to be connected to www.cintas.com  for more product information.

Rob Nowak, Technology Strategist at Dingley, stated “when a customer asks us to create a mobile app, their focus is on the consumer or reader.  Cintas expanded that user base and also considered how their sales force would use the app. Now, customers who download the app will always have the latest catalog, and the Cintas sales force has a new tool to enhance their selling process.”

Dennis Braun, Catalog Marketing Manager at Cintas states, “We are excited about the opportunity to not only provide solutions to our customers across a variety of platforms, but to empower our dedicated sales partners with tools to help them succeed.  Dingley has been a great partner in helping us innovate our digital catalog presence.”

The Dingley Press, a Sheridan Group company, is working with its customers to assist them in delivering content to catalog readers in a variety of formats.  Mobile Apps are just one in a series of products developed and supported though Sheridan Technology. Other products for catalogers include Sheridan Dynamic Editions™ and Sheridan Print-to-Mobile QR Codes.
