Australasian printing giant partners with manroland

Press release from the issuing company

PMP Limited recently placed an order for the world’s first fully duplexed, twin-fold, 96-page press configuration. Consisting of two 48-page LITHOMAN presses that can run as two separate presses, the configuration can also be combined as a single press. This enables much higher paginations or multiple copies of the same product at the same time.

Equipped with the latest manroland automation technology the new LITHOMAN features the highest possible level of production stability and total consistency of quality. This additional capacity for PMP’s Perth site will permit local production of products previously shipped interstate, reducing costs and improving lead times for West Australia’s catalogs, magazines, heatset tabloids, and inserts. Planned to be in production in September 2012 the new press replaces 30 years old equipment.

“Printing solutions to world class standards”
Clinton Willis, General Manager Western Australia (WA) at PMP, said: “Our investment in Perth adds strength to our national capability and brings exciting opportunities for our customers. The redevelopment of Bibra Lake and investment in technology means our customers and the WA market will benefit from more efficient and flexible printing solutions to world class standards.” Richard Allely, Chief Executive of PMP Limited, said: “We have enjoyed a thirty year relationship with manroland which has been successful for both parties. Clearly our major strategic partner, manroland has proven to be a reliable, long-term supplier of equipment of the highest quality and performance. Perth is one of our more distant sites, so the 24/7 service offering of manroland was considered important for this decision. We are very pleased to make this investment in Western Australia, making our Perth business a world leader. It demonstrates our continuing confidence in the Australasian printing industry and in manroland.”

manroland CEO Gerd Finkbeiner commented: “PMP is one of our extremely valued customers and are to be congratulated for their foresight in choosing this advanced technology. I want to thank PMP for their very significant order and assure them of our utmost support throughout and after the completion of the project.” Steve Dunwell, Managing Director of manroland Australasia: “We greatly appreciate the order from PMP and the confidence it provides to us and others in the industry.” PMP Limited is the giant of the Australasian printing industry reporting revenues in excess of $A one billion (approx. 750 million euro) and employing more than 2,600 staff across 16 locations in Australia and New Zealand. PMP is the largest printing company in both countries and offers a complete range of end-to-end solutions for the region’s biggest retailers.
