Quad/Graphics Awarded Architectural Digest as Part of Multi-Million-Dollar Contract

Press release from the issuing company

Quad/Graphics and Advance Magazine Group – parent company of Condé Nast Publications, Fairchild Publications, the Golf Digest Companies and other companies – have entered into a multi-year, multi-million-dollar agreement for the printing of Architectural Digest, beginning with the November 2003 issue, as well as the continued production of popular magazine titles Lucky, Jane, Golf for Women and Golf World, which the printer has successfully produced for a number of years. The agreement builds on a five-year contract announced on July 1, 2003, awarding Quad/Graphics prepress for 23 high-profile AMG titles including Vogue, Architectural Digest, Glamour, Vanity Fair, W, Lucky, Jane, Golf Digest, Golf for Women and Golf World, among others. “Quad/Graphics is thrilled to extend and expand on our four-year relationship with AMG,” said Tom Quadracci, Quad/Graphics President & CEO. “Quad/Graphics delivers what AMG demands: a manufacturing platform built for speed, flexibility and, above all, quality.” “Advance Magazines is proud to expand our relationship with Quad/Graphics with this new agreement,” said David Orlin, Senior Vice President of Strategic Sourcing for the Advance Magazine Group. “Quad is an excellent company to partner with and their continued commitment to technology and best practices enables us to raise the bar on quality and productivity not only today but in the future as well.” Quad/Graphics is familiar with Architectural Digest’s exacting standards for quality, having prepped and printed the title for nearly seven years between mid-1988 and mid-1995. Knapp Communications owned Architectural Digest until 1993, at which time Condé Nast Publications purchased the renowned title, growing it to increased prominence. “We enjoyed a terrific relationship with Architectural Digest in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, and we look forward to seeing these beautiful photo-intensive pages pour off our presses every month,” said Gary Cartwright, Administrative Plant Manager for Quad/Graphics’ Sussex, Wis., plant, which is the title’s home plant. “Architectural Digest is the epitome of quality and we will deliver on that quality.” Quad/Graphics will continue to print Lucky, Jane, Golf for Women and Golf World using the industry’s newest manufacturing platform. Under a separate contract, Quad/Graphics also prints AMG title Wired.
