Appleton Introduces New Moisture Vapor Barrier Packaging

Press release from the issuing company

APPLETON, Wis., Oct. 20 -- Appleton has launched MoistureBloc(TM) Folding Carton barrier packaging, a substrate that is engineered to provide superior protection from moisture vapor damage for consumer dry goods like detergents, powdered milk, rice, potato flakes and baby cereal. MoistureBloc provides moisture vapor protection without the need for a separate overwrap or laminated film through the application of an innovative barrier coating. This barrier coating technology applied to the inside reduces the amount of packaging that is required, which in turn helps to create a more cost-effective performance packaging solution. MoistureBloc also meets U.S. Food and Drug Administration requirements for food packaging. MoistureBloc provides an exceptional outside print surface that creates better opportunities to increase the shelf appeal of the package and thereby give customers a more effective way to communicate with consumers. The product is also easy to print and convert on conventional equipment. MoistureBloc is recyclable and repulpable which makes it more environmentally friendly and cost-effective than product packaging that is overwrapped or laminated with plastic or metalized films. "We are excited about the value-added features MoistureBloc offers our customers by enhancing their ability to differentiate themselves in the competitive consumer products market," said Steve Sakai, Appleton's vice president of performance packaging. "Delivering better ideas that make a difference is our focus at Appleton. And MoistureBloc Folding Carton is an innovative product solution designed to satisfy a clearly identified, unmet customer need." Appleton creates product solutions through its development and use of coating formulations and applications, and encapsulation technology. The company produces carbonless, thermal, security, digital and performance packaging products. Appleton is headquartered in Appleton, Wisconsin; has manufacturing operations in Wisconsin, Ohio and Pennsylvania; employs approximately 2,600 people; and is 100 percent employee-owned.
