Convert InDesign CS5.5 To Quark 9

Press release from the issuing company

Markzware, the leading developer of file conversion technology for InDesign CS5.5 and Quark 9, today announced the upgrade ID2Q v6, its popular Quark XTension. ID2Q v6, for both Macintosh and Windows, allows graphic designers to convert InDesign CS5.5 documents within QuarkXPress 8 or 9 with a click or two.

“The recent release of Quark App Studio to create and publish to branded iPad apps, has not surprisingly driven substantial interest from InDesign users. The primary reason for the interest is no doubt being driven by how affordable and accessible it is for creating engaging, interactive experiences on the iPad. We therefore welcome the availability of ID2Q 6 with support for converting InDesign documents to QuarkXPress 9 projects and thereby opening up the possibility of publishing to the iPad to a wider audience of designers that currently rely on InDesign for print publishing and now need to go digital,” said Gavin Drake, VP Marketing, Quark.

According to Gaye Roth, owner Gaye Roth Creative, “ID2Q has saved my life more than once. I have been a professional graphic designer since QuarkXPress began. I have many files in Quark and still love using Quark for publishing. Many new clients will provide files for me to rework that someone else has done in InDesign. Out of the sheer desire to procure a large annual report job that was previously created by the client with InDesign, I purchased the ID2Q Quark Xtension.”

Roth continues, “This software converted the file perfectly to QuarkXPress and I was off and running. The purchase price paid for itself in the time that I saved with one job and beyond. I have used it many times since. Time is money and ID2Q has enabled me to save many hours of time.”

ID2Q (InDesign to Quark), is an inexpensive Quark XTension with a self-explanatory name. Simply put, it enables users to convert InDesign CS5.5 to Quark 9 content, while preserving the elements and formatting of the original QuarkXPress document, including page positioning, color models, fonts and styles, images and more. Once installed, it is easy to convert InDesign: just select ‘convert InDesign document’ from the QuarkXPress Utilities menu.

“Knowing that much of the graphic design industry has made the switch over to InDesign, we needed something to help us be more compatible in our QuarkXPress proficient studio. ID2Q saved us tons of time in having to recreate documents from scratch. The converted files are almost perfect, requiring only minor fixes. We have, and would, highly recommend it to anyone who is not quite ready to make the switch over to InDesign, but needs to keep up with the industry. ID2Q is magical and well worth the small price we paid for it!” expressed Vicki Nishokg, Michael Chan Design.

Melissa Murat, marketing communication manager of Häfele Australia Pty Ltd said, “ID2Q has made our business practices flow so much easier, working in an international company where artwork is shared in many different formats across the world, having the ability to convert files has helped us speed up production tremendously. We no longer have to re-create artwork from scratch.”
