EPMS And Soft Solutions Provide Integrated Solution To Marking Systems

Friday, October 07, 2011

Press release from the issuing company

Enterprise Print Management Solutions (EPMS) , a leading developer of print MIS solutions and SoftSolutions, Inc , a leading provider of DMI solutions are pleased to announce the successful installation of their integrated systems at Marking Systems Inc., in Garland, Texas . Marking Systems is a 110 employee , ISO9001 certified ,printing company specializing in durable custom labels, graphic overlays, roll labels and membrane switches. The ability to capture shop floor data in real time, without requiring employees to manually enter data , and having that ability fully integrated with their print management system was critically important.

“The integration between EPMS’ Enterprise print MIS and Soft Solutions’ Flex product provided the robust functionality that Marking Systems needed,” said Mark Andersen, President of EPMS.

“Marking Systems was concerned about the margin for error on the shop floor that happens when there is too much manual intervention in the data collection process. Flex provides a seamless integration between their shop floor equipment and their Enterprise solution. This workflow automation eliminates operator error and provides real-time feedback on their production status .” said Jay Foster, President of Soft Solutions.

Joe Sofinowski , Quality Manager at Marking Systems concurred.

“Marking Systems, Inc. chose to integrate Flex with EPMS MIS solution to ensure we get the most accurate up-to-date information from our shop floor.  As a specialty graphics printer, we stock hundreds of different polycarbonate, polyester, vinyl and paper substrates.  With an average of 1,600 custom printing jobs shipped a month, we struggled with raw material allocation and inventory control.  With the EPMS/Flex integration, we do not have to rely on the accuracy of equipment operators manually entering material usage information.  The system knows if there was unanticipated spoilage on a job and our purchasing department is continuously updated with the current on-hand inventory levels.   The collection of labor hours is also greatly simplified with Flex.  Operators of Flex-enabled equipment have their production times automatically loaded into EPMS’s Data Collection and Job Costing modules, ensuring accurate information for job costing analysis.  With these integrated solutions, everybody in the plant (even people on the road with smartphones or notepad computers) can identify the real-time status of a specific job without interrupting anybody.  The most important benefit of our new system is accurate data.  The availability of accurate data enables us to make fact-based business decisions, rather than relying on gut feel,” he said.
