Claro 8 at IFRA

Press release from the issuing company

BBC Magazines, publisher of internationally-renowned titles such as Top Gear and Gardeners' World, is one of the latest customers to applaud the capabilities of the newest Elpical Claro. Enfocus Switch customers requiring top-notch image optimization in their automated workflows have also made Claro their top choice for image processing software.

Two versions of the newest Claro solutions will be demonstrated in the Crossroads Hall A, Stand 760 exhibit at IFRA, October 10-12 in Vienna.
Claro Premedia: The image processing server for automatic individual image analysis and organic enhancements yields stunning, natural blues, greens and skin tones.
Claro Single: The image analysis and enhancement module for integration in standards-based workflows; providing the same spectacular, true-to-life image benefits.
"This is one of our greatest successes," says Alan Dixon, the Elpical Claro integrator from Workflowz, UK, who introduced BBC Magazines to the Claro software. "BBC is unforgiving when scrutinizing production quality; and knowing that Claro can meet their rigorous requirements makes Claro one of, if not the only, best-in-class image processing solution. We can bring Claro into any operation with complete confidence."

The "Organic" ways of Claro 8, in detail

Nature's colors are the focus of Claro 8, which was made available in late spring. Sky blues, grass greens and skin-tones can be made to look much closer to reality than ever before in an automated image correction and optimization solution.

"Concepts such as 'natural' and 'automation' seem very far apart. In Claro, however, we've engineered a way to identify and optimize naturally-occurring greens, blues, and skintones; to achieve true-to-life imagery in an automated solution," says John de Jong, Managing Director of Elpical. "Claro has moved the bar."

de Jong says that newspaper publishers and media houses looking for ways to speed production cycle times are prime candidates for benefitting from the imaging automation advantages of Claro 8. "They can achieve efficiency and greater quality control without compromising the unique look and feel of their publications," de Jong adds, pointing to BBC Magazines' image automation success with Top Gear and Gardeners' World - both titles renowned for their imagery - as evidence.

Claro image optimization and automated workflow solutions for publishers and large enterprises are in use all over the world; at publishing houses, ad agencies, and commercial and transactional production companies. Worldwide brands using Claro include Meredith Corp., Modern Luxury Media, Sanoma Magazines, BBC Magazines and USA Today.
How Claro Works

Claro employs its Individual Image Analysis to rapidly analyze a range of parameters in each of the thousands of images it processes, and then modifies individual images for highest-quality and publication-centric results.

Operators have the option to review side-by-side comparisons of originals and Claro-optimized images, and make manual edits if desired, using Claro Inspector for Photoshop. With the new Claro Settings Assistant, the operator can further customize their specific image optimization needs without the immediate and direct need for hands-on, expert setup. Settings can be tested in a desktop environment and exported back to the production server.
The Claro Product Family

The Claro Premedia solution, which integrates with editorial and production systems available all over the world, also automates other image processing tasks such as intelligent file format and color conversions. Claro Premedia offers a complete, client-server based image optimization workflow combining productivity benefits of a server solution with the discerning visual capabilities of the human eye.

Claro Single gives printers and publishers true server solutions offering 100% hands-off image optimization. As an integration module, Claro Single is easy to plugin to automation solutions such as Enfocus Switch or PuzzleFlow.
