MGI Reports Strong Graph Expo with 2 Must See 'Ems and Numerous Orders

Press release from the issuing company

Must See 'ems received for new toner and inkjet presses

MELBOURNE, Fla. – MGI Digital Graphic Technology, the manufacturer of multi-substrate digital printing and finishing solutions, today announced their strongest GRAPH EXPO showing to date, which included receiving prestigious Must See 'em awards for the Meteor DP8700 XL multi-substrate digital press and the JETcard inkjet card factory, strong equipment sales at the show, and hundreds of qualified leads.

Products selected as Must See 'ems were chosen from more than 1,800 individual products shown at GRAPH EXPO 2011 by more than 475 exhibitors. A panel of several leading industry consultants and trade magazine editors selected the winners, which represent technologies that will impact virtually all types of printers.

Two of MGI's newest digital innovations were among the 29 Must See 'em winners - the Meteor DP8700 XL and the JETcard, both honored in the Digital Press category.

"We're especially proud of our Must See 'em awards this year because they recognize our two different technologies – toner and inkjet," said Michael Abergel, Executive Vice President and Managing Director for MGI USA, Inc. "Our flagship Meteor series has now received 2 separate Must See 'ems and have long been recognized as the most versatile digital presses in the toner segment, while the JETcard represents our entry into the color inkjet segment, which signals an exciting direction for future development."

Meteor DP8700 XL
The most versatile digital press in the global graphics market, the Meteor DP8700 XL offers users the widest range of substrates available (paper, plastics & envelopes), the largest sheet size among production sheetfed digital presses (up to 40" in production), laser-safe prints via oil-free, dry toner, no click charge and an economical total cost of operation, and a print resolution of 3600 DPI / 270 LPI with 25 different line screens (including stochastic), including the ability to select 2 different line screens within the same job.

JETcard
Utilizing MGI's award-winning and revolutionary inkjet technology, the JETcard provides card manufacturers with an all-inclusive production solution, from printing through encoding. In the JETcard, MGI presents a turnkey digital solution that is not only less expensive than offset, even on runs in excess of 500,000 cards, but is also faster than offset, resulting in a drastic cost-per-card savings.

With production speeds up to 8,000 cards per hour (simplex), the JETcard can perform the following functions in just one pass:

  • Pre-print coating (enabling to print on lower quality  paper or plastic substrates)
  • 720 x 2160 DPI inkjet printing in 4+2 UV colors (additional options include white ink, custom colors and raised print effects)
  • Spot or flood UV coating for card protection (spot UV can be applied to provide a 3D effect)
  • Security inks revealed only under a black light
  • Choice of flat or textured background
  • Read & write on HiCo/LoCo magnetic stripes
  • Automated quality controls
