Neenah Paper Gives Early Support to Two Sides

Press release from the issuing company

Will Help Promote Responsible Production, Use and Sustainability of Print and Paper

ALPHARETTA, Ga. - Neenah Paper has signed on as one of the inaugural supporters of Two Sides U.S., the non-profit organization that works to promote the responsible production, use and sustainability of print.

One of several leading companies to pledge support for Two Sides, Neenah is part of a growing cadre of leaders in media, publishing, paper distribution and manufacturing that have come together to share the message that paper is an environmentally friendly communications choice.

"Two Sides provides a collective voice to dispel paper myths and legends, and insert facts supported by science and solutions," says Byron Racki, vice president marketing, Neenah Fine Paper. "We're excited to help bring this voice to our print and creative consumers. It's time to clearly communicate the environmental value of print in today's media mix."

According to Racki, the company has long believed in both digital and print communications as key components of a marketer's toolbox. He adds, "Paper and print are not only critical components in the marketing mix, but are a sustainable choice as well. Our goal is to help share the message that digital shouldn't necessarily be perceived as 'greener'; paper is an environmentally-friendly communications medium that offers beauty, impact and practicality."

Neenah has a long history and commitment to sustainability. In fact, signing on to support Two Sides is just the latest step in Neenah's history of implementing and supporting sustainable actions, practices and initiatives. Neenah has committed to aggressively reducing its environmental footprint by using renewable energy sources, obtaining third-party certification by Green Seal, the Forest Stewardship Council, and the Chlorine Free Products Association. It also is a member of the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Green Power Partnership and was recognized for its purchase of Green-e Certified renewable energy.

"Print media is inherently sustainable and its environmental footprint is continually improving  due to the initiatives that responsible paper mills are undertaking," adds Gregg Aiken, mill manager for Neenah's Whiting, Wis., plant, and a member of Two Sides' Sustainability Committee. "We believe it's our responsibility as a company to drive sustainable changes within our business, while influencing our customers by sharing the sustainability message. Two Sides provides an effective platform to make it happen."

Both Racki and Aiken will sit on Two Sides committees to provide guidance and input for the U.S. launch.
