Pageflex to Demonstrate Mobile-to-Print Solution at Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

Company Announces Release of PagePopTM -  The Pageflex Application for the iPad

Marlborough, Mass. – Pageflex, a division of Bitstream Inc. and a leading supplier of marketing and printing automation solutions, today announced the release of its new mobile application, PagePop,  and plans to enable customers of its web-to-print software products to seamlessly accept print orders from mobile devices. The release of PagePop is the company's first step in advancing the role that mobile devices will play in the printing production process in the near future. Pageflex will demonstrate PagePop and provide a technology preview of the role it plays in the ordering process in booth # 3861 at Graph Expo, being held September 11-14, 2011 at McCormick Place, Chicago, Illinois.

PagePop offers users an intuitive experience for reading and managing PDF documents on the iPad.  The application supports iPad users who frequently reference a lot of PDF documents and need a simple, efficient app to store and view documents. The application is ideal for students and professors, researchers, lawyers, engineers, pilots, and medical professionals. Users can organize their PDF collection by simple drag-and-drop into folders and can later perform a full library search according to metadata. PagePop automatically zooms in on the content so that white margins don't waste precious screen space. And pages move fluidly from thumbnail to full reading mode.

"We initially have made PagePop available as a 99 cent consumer application on the Apple iPad App Store to gather widespread feedback for feature development and usability enhancements. "We plan to continually improve the product, adding more capabilities and advancing the already highly-intuitive and fun user experience," explains Muna Assi, PagePop Product Marketing Manager. "We are talking to select customers now about a PagePop Enterprise Edition that can be private labeled and pre-loaded with approved corporate or university documents. This is the offering that we see institutions distributing with a direct link to the inplant or a print service provider so that employees can easily place print orders while on the go."

PagePop represents Pageflex's first step in the mobile-to-print space. At Graph Expo, Pageflex will demonstrate how PagePop users can send PDF documents directly from their iPad to a printing company using the recently released Pageflex iWay Sales Manager. Those orders are then routed by Pageflex iWay Sales Manager to a press. Sales Manager sends a receipt acknowledgement and price quote back to the user's iPad.

The iPad platform represents a unique combination of storage device, communications device, and powerful computing device capable of running advanced software applications and performing the sophisticated functionalities required for mobile-to-print automation. The iPad App Store provides a selling platform instantaneously accessible to customers worldwide who want to download the PagePop application.

Elly Perets, VP of Sales and Marketing for Pageflex, commented on the application, saying, "Being able to link the print production process with mobile devices will be a critical component of what enables print providers to survive over the next decade. Pageflex lead the industry by pioneering variable data, web-to-print, business flow automation, and now mobile-to-print. We look forward to building on our leadership role and opening up the production process to people no matter where they are."
