Creo Acquires IntelliNet NewsFlow and PressSite Products from HiT

Press release from the issuing company

LEIPZIG, Germany--Oct. 13, 2003--IfraExpo 2003-- Creo Inc. announces that it has reached an agreement to purchase the IntelliNet NewsFlow production workflow system product line and the integrated PressSite press control interface for newspapers from HiT Internet Technologies SpA of Affi, Italy, a leading developer of technology for the publishing industry. "Newspaper publishers and printers around the world rely on IntelliNet NewsFlow to produce their publications without fail every issue," says Neil McLean, director of the Creo Newspaper Market. IntelliNet NewsFlow is used by many of the world's largest newspapers in more than 700 installations in 32 countries. "Creo recognized the potential in IntelliNet to further extend and enhance our workflow products to meet the needs of the newspaper of tomorrow, providing a path for all current customers," adds Mr. McLean. "We are confident in the ability of Creo to support the customer base of IntelliNet as well as to extend the features to serve those customers into the future," said Mose Giacomello, vice-president of HiT. The Creo service organization is the largest in the prepress industry. "In addition, HiT will be available to provide assistance as needed in the integration process," adds Mr. Giacomello. IntelliNet NewsFlow brings important production features to the Creo newspaper solution. They include page transmission and distribution, links to press control systems with PressSite, and the ability to integrate third-party legacy imaging systems into a modern Creo production environment. IntelliNet NewsFlow will enable newspapers that print at multiple remote print sites to gain access to the un-matched Creo PDF-processing technology and Staccato screening when used with the Trendsetter NEWS computer-to-plate systems. Creo will enhance the IntelliNet NewsFlow system and integrate the system into the Creo Prinergy and Prinergy Newsrun newspaper workflow systems, the industry's only end-to-end PDF workflow solutions. IntelliNet NewsFlow uses standard file formats, networking and communications and will pass PDF files and other data to the Prinergy workflow management system. Creo has installed more than 150 Trendsetter NEWS computer-to-plate systems on five continents around the world since the prepress solution for newspapers was introduced two years ago. Creo is demonstrating the latest newspaper prepress solutions at stand #2F545 at IfraExpo 2003 from October 13 to 16 in Leipzig, Germany. HiT Internet Technologies is also exhibiting at stand #4D133.
