HELIOS DeviceN support solves printing problems

Press release from the issuing company

Garbsen, Germany--- October 9, 2003--- HELIOS Software GmbH demonstrates its technology leadership in the networked prepress arena, with the addition of DeviceN color space support to HELIOS ImageServer 2.5, now shipping on HELIOS CD019. ImageServer DeviceN support enables the printing of files with spot colors as high-res composite Postscript 3/DeviceN output that is compatible for in-RIP, PostScript 3 separations or PDF generation. HELIOS ImageServer 2.5 (with all updates installed) replaces images that have OPI comments and produces DeviceN PostScript output whenever needed to preserve spot color information. This applies in particular to DCS-2, TIFF and PhotoShop CMYK images with spot colors, that can now be converted into composite high-res PostScript 3/DeviceN images to be used for in-RIP separations or PDF generation. HELIOS ImageServer 2.5 also enables users to overcome some limitations within QuarkXPress. E.g. QuarkXPress 3 through 5 cannot produce DeviceN output, and QuarkXPress 3 through 6 cannot produce in-RIP separations. But when you use QuarkXPress in connection with HELIOS ImageServer 2.5, you can produce in-RIP separations with DeviceN output. HELIOS PDF HandShake 2.1 also already supports DeviceN output for printing PDF files or printing PDF via OPI-replaced jobs. Additionally, HELIOS Print Preview can be used to recombine the separations into a color matched composite preview including a set of grayscale separations for all needed colors. These separations include all necessary information for correct overprinting, knockouts, correct spot colors derived from DeviceN PostScript, and existing trapping and color information. On approval, you can generate the final output with PDF HandShake to the final output device.
