Roland VersaStudio Is Shipping, Supported by Certified Media Line

Press release from the issuing company

20-Inch-Wide Rolls Now Available for Popular Roland Eco-Solvent Media, Including Calendered Vinyl, Heat Transfer Solution and Solvent Glossy Paper

Irvine, Calif., – Roland DGA Corp. is pleased to announce that the VersaStudio BN-20 metallic desktop inkjet printer/cutter is now shipping.  To optimize its performance across several profitable applications, the company has extended its Eco-SOL MAX certified media line with new VersaStudio products, including matte and glossy calendered vinyl, a heat transfer solution, and both adhesive-backed and non-adhesive solvent glossy paper.

"The VersaStudio is compact, affordable and great at short run applications," said Andrew Oransky, director of marketing and product management for Roland DGA Corp.  "Already, we're seeing a lot of interest from businesses that create heat transfers for custom T-shirts and other apparel items.  Another popular application for the VersaStudio is labeling. The new adhesive-backed solvent glossy paper is a perfect solution for this because it is specifically designed to be contour cut."

At 20-inches wide, the VersaStudio is a complete, feature-rich production solution, including CMYK and metallic silver ink, VersaWorks RIP software, and inline contour cutting for finished graphics of virtually any shape.  To support VersaStudio, each new media has been carefully selected for performance with Eco-SOL MAX ink and sized to fit the device's unique dimensions.  VersaStudio media products support both printing and contour cutting and offer extended durability for outstanding image quality over the long term. The new line features:

Matte and Glossy Calendered Vinyl - ESM-MCVP and ESM-GCVP

Backed with a permanent adhesive, these high-quality 3 mil vinyl products support a wide range of indoor and outdoor applications, including signs, labels, decals, POP, vehicle and floor graphics, and wraps of all kinds.  MCVP and GCVP image well in a variety of print modes for exceptional results.

HeatSoft Transfer Paper and Mask - ESM-HTM2 and PGM-PTM

Roland's HeatSoft solution includes a 1.7 mil synthetic fabric transfer material and 3 mil polyester transfer mask with a specially formulated heat resistant adhesive. Together, these products produce high-resolution full-color heat transfers with excellent opacity and white point characteristics, and ensure flawless results through the transfer process.

Solvent Glossy Paper with Adhesive - ESM-SGPA

The industry's first adhesive-backed paper designed for both printing and contour cutting, SGPA is ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications.  A special coating optimizes this 135 gsm solvent glossy paper for eco-solvent printing, and its permanent, water-based acrylic adhesive is backed with a silicone treated release liner for easy handling through the finishing process.  SGPA delivers a superior white point and gloss level and is multicoated for water and scratch resistance.

Solvent Glossy Paper – ESM-SGP3

A heavy-weight paper with an advanced inkjet receptive coating, SGP3 is designed for high-resolution full-color printing, offering excellent opacity and white point characteristics. The coating is designed to image well while reducing ink consumption. In addition to a gloss finish on the coated side, SGP3 has a unique, durable glossy base sheet that stabilizes the product throughout production.
