GPO Meets Needs Of Congress and Federal Agencies in Aftermath of Earthquake

Press release from the issuing company

WASHINGTON- After a 5.8 earthquake shook the Washington, D.C. area, U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) employees were evacuated and following an inspection by GPO engineers, essential employees returned to work to serve the needs of the U.S. Congress and Federal agencies. Approximately 100 essential employees in the plant, IT, security, and facilities worked through the night to be sure the Congressional Record and Senate Calendar were produced and made available online. GPO employees also produced the daily Federal Register.  These documents can be found on GPO's Federal Digital System www.fdsys.gov.

"I applaud the dedicated efforts of GPO's employees in meeting the needs of the Congress and Federal agencies and assuring the continuity of our operations in this extraordinary situation," said Public Printer Bill Boarman. "GPO remains open for business."
