Xerox and EFI Bring Exceptional Color to Demanding Production Environments

Press release from the issuing company

Foster City, Calif. – EFI, a world leader in customer-focused digital printing innovation, today launched the Xerox EX Print Server powered by Fiery for the new Xerox DocuColor 8080 Digital Press to ensure the most vivid color and best usability for high-volume digital print production customers. The Fiery-driven DocuColor 8080 is ideal for direct mail, collateral and personalized communications with color critical and Variable Data Print (VDP) applications.

Fiery color technology and the Xerox Automatic Color Quality Suite (ACQS), that automates color management and assures color accuracy, means customers of demanding production environments get the right color every time. The EX Print Server also supports the application of new low gloss dry ink for digital image quality demanded by marketers and graphic designers for many applications.

"EFI brings innovative color features and productivity-enhancing capabilities such as native PDF workflow to the newest press in the DocuColor line-up," said John Henze, vice president of Fiery marketing, EFI. "With the combined strength of Xerox and Fiery technology, this press exceeds the challenges of today's fast-paced, high-quality color production environments."

The EX Print Server introduces Fiery Image Enhance Visual Editor (IEVE), a new innovation for editing and managing images. Available in the current version of Command WorkStation, the Fiery print job management and user interface software, IEVE allows editing each image in a job without going back to the native design file, saving time and reducing costs. IEVE simplifies the editing process, providing an interactive toolset for optimizing image appearance and applying automatic per-image corrections, to ensure photos look their best. This tool also gives users a manual control to individually adjust brightness, contrast, highlights, shadows, color balance, sharpness and an automatic tool to make red-eye corrections on any image within a job. Users can save preferred settings as presets to apply to other images or other print jobs, ensuring consistent and optimized output. (For more info, visit http://w3.efi.com/fiery/Products/CWS5)

Demanding color customers will be excited that EFI Color Profiler Suite (CPS) is a standard feature for the EX Print Server. Color Profiler Suite is the digital print industry's only fully integrated color management toolset for creating ICC profiles, guaranteeing color reproduction is always accurate, consistent and reliable. CPS helps users achieve the color results which delight their customers and allow them to realize the full potential of the engine.

In addition, the EX Printer Server incorporates the latest in VDP technology, with features such as the ability to preview the VDP records in the imposition stage, as well as the capability to easily reprint an individual record or a range of records if necessary. All of these features reduce errors and make it faster and easier for operators to produce VDP jobs.

For users requiring a native PDF workflow, the EX Print Server supports Adobe PDF Print Engine v2 (APPE). Users can now choose a native PDF end-to-end workflow in conjunction with the conventional PostScript interpreter to ensure accuracy and consistency of output from design to print.
