Publication Perspectives Installs Presstek 34DI Digital Offset Press

Press release from the issuing company

Greenwich, CT – Presstek, Inc., a leading supplier of digital offset printing solutions to the printing and communications industries, today announced that Publication Perspectives, located in Mulgrave, Victoria, Australia and a leading producer of documentation, corporate materials, and multimedia and design services, has installed a 34cm Presstek enabled DI digital offset press to better position the company to meet changing customer needs. The company has been in business since 1970 and has six employees.

"We were looking for a solution that could profitably produce four-color runs in quantities of 500 to 5,000," said Phil Van Dijk, General Manager of Publication Perspectives. "Our aim was to ensure that we maintain technology that allowed us to profitably deliver the quality product our customers expect, on time and at a competitive price. The DI is the perfect fit that will help our business achieve those objectives."

Van Dijk reports that the installation of the DI allowed the firm to transfer work from a single-color press, resulting in a dramatic cost savings. He adds, "In addition it has given us something new to talk about with existing and potential customers. About 20% of the work we are producing on the DI is new business for us. Customers are attracted to the quality, fast turnaround time and environmentally friendly nature of the DI printing process."

"Publication Perspectives promises to create custom-made items to suit customer needs and budgets across a wide range of applications, from corporate materials and documentation, to self-published books, calendars, cards and invitations," said Tim Sawyer, Presstek Director, Asia Pacific. "Although the press has only been installed at their shop for a short time, it has more than lived up to its promise to improve the company's competitive edge, retaining and growing existing customers while enabling the company to bring new customers on board. Its small footprint is also an advantage, taking up much less space than a conventional four-colour press and accompanying platesetter. Publication Perspectives sees the DI as a means to bring in new work."

The 34DI is a highly automated four-colour digital offset press that operates at 7,000 sheets per hour. The 34DI offers both conventional offset and digital printers the most profitable solution for meeting the demand for quick turnaround (file to sellable sheet in 10 minutes), high quality colour printing in runs from 500 to 20,000. The 34DI's ability to print on a wide range of substrates from onion skin to heavy card stock; including plastics and magnetic media, expands the range of applications printers can produce. Superior quality printing is produced at up to 300 lpi and FM screening-without incurring additional time or expense. Its ease of use, fast makeready and small physical and environmental footprint make it an attractive solution for growing printing businesses such as Publication Perspectives.
