callas Announces Updates and Improvements in callas pdfToolbox 5

Press release from the issuing company

Berlin, – callas software, the leading developer of PDF technology for publishing, print production and document archiving announces important updates and improvements in callas pdfToolbox 5.

To stay a step ahead in this rapidly changing technology landscape, callas software continuously innovates. This trend continues with a new maintenance release for callas pdfToolbox that packs new features related to the checking and fixing of problems with page sizes, page orientation and bleed. These features are especially valuable in environments where fully unattended fixing of PDF documents is paramount.

Improved automatic processing of PDFs
Nowadays, a lot of jobs are delivered through web-to-print, print-webshops or PDF-upload portals. In such environments there is a high-percentage of uploaded files that aren't properly prepared for production. Many common problems could be fixed automatically, but others remained more problematic. Page size and bleed issues for example often cause problems and require manual intervention. The new callas pdfToolbox 5 update dramatically increases the abilities of the software to automatically correct such issues.

Improved bleed checking
The new version of callas pdfToolbox 5 increases its flexibility in checking for bleed issues. The updated checks can check individual edges of the document allowing different treatment of inside and outside borders, even or odd pages or whatever else is required in an automated workflow. callas pdfToolbox Desktop more accurately highlights which objects (or parts of objects) cause the problem and bleed issues can automatically be fixed as well.

Conditional fixes for page geometry issues
Before this new release, a number of fixes related to page geometry could only be executed on a complete PDF file. However, if you want to rotate only those pages that are portrait or if you want to scale only those pages that are slightly larger than the required page size, you need a more flexible solution. callas software introduces that solution with conditional fixes in this new maintenance release; various fixes can now be run only if a custom preflight check indicates there is a problem.

Pricing and availability
The update for existing callas pdfToolbox 5 or callas pdfToolbox Server 5 customers is free of charge. For new customers, callas pdfToolbox Desktop 5 with the new upgrade is available for € 499. callas pdfToolbox Server 5 is available from € 3999.
