Domino Demonstrates Integrated Solutions At Graph Expo

Press release from the issuing company

Gurnee, Illinois, USA – August 29th, 2008: Domino Amjet Inc will use Graph Expo 2008 to demonstrate how its fully integrated solutions for mailing and addressing applications offer opportunities for commercial printers to gain a competitive advantage through variable data printing.  With the broadest range of ink jet technologies, including binary, thermal ink jet (TIJ), piezo and continuous printing, Domino offers a cost effective and high quality solution for every application, irrespective of speed, volume or format.

Graph Expo will provide a platform for the US launch of version 4.5 of the successful Bitjet+ binary printer offering unparalleled print quality and the highest print speeds for in-line digital printing.  The flexibility of Domino's L-Series thermal ink jet printers will be demonstrated in three different applications, while its latest serialized and variable data ink jet printing offerings are to be showcased by the launch of the versatile K150 ink jet printer and the world's best selling A-Series range of ink jet printers.

Since its global launch in May at drupa 2008 (Düsseldorf, Germany), the innovative design and product developments of the Bitjet+ version 4.5 has already attracted a huge amount of interest around the world and in particular within the North American market.  This latest version allows applications such as in line late stage personalization of newspapers, with the latest sports or election results, plus in-line promotion gaming, to become a reality.

Easily integrated into existing production lines, the versatile Bitjet+ version 4.5 provides text, barcode and graphics printing capability, combined with very fast drying inks, making it suitable for almost every substrate.  A wide print head-to-substrate throw distance also enables integration on a variety of print and print finishing equipment. Common applications include bindery, folders, wrapping, inserters, rewinders, plastic cards, sheet-feed and web presses, mailing lines and label presses.

"The key benefits of the new version 4.5 of the Bitjet+ come from its ability to deliver increased print quality, together with the option for extremely high print speeds and improvements in operational efficiency," says David Ellen, Vice-President Sales Commercial Printing Division, North America.  "In addition, our US customers can benefit from the capability of the Bitjet+ to print to USPS specifications, such as the new Intelligent Mail barcode, which allows them to take advantage of postal discounts available through co-mailing solutions."

Featuring patented TIJ technology for addressing onto direct mail, catalogues and magazines, Domino's L400 printer offers a cost-effective solution for the mailing market.  Benchmarked against established market-leading systems, the L400 has been shown to deliver speed increases of 30% at the same print resolution, as well as sharper and consistently more reliable print quality.  In addition, its powerful variable data capabilities facilitate addressing with the latest postal industry barcodes including linear and 2D codes, postage paid indicia, graphics and messaging.

Easily integrated into mail bases, the L400 is equally compatible with envelope inserters, folders and narrow print webs, delivering high print quality across every personalization application in the mailing and bindery sectors.  At Graph Expo this flexibility will be demonstrated through applications on a mail table and a Longford feeder on booth # 2241, as well as in the mailing fulfillment section on booth # 2693.

Also making its US debut will be the versatile K150 variable data drop on demand (DOD) printing solution, the latest addition to Domino's popular K-Series range.  The piezo DOD technology will be demonstrated using low-VOC solvent to deliver cost efficient, high resolution print which meets the increasing demands for late stage customization, predominantly within the mailing and addressing sectors.  A version using UV curable inks is also available.

Providing high definition print onto a wider range of substrates, including aqueous and high gloss, the K150 is specifically suited to mailing applications thanks to its print format and price position.  Depending on production requirements, each K150 printer can deliver a print width of 71mm, a resolution of up to 180 x 360 dpi, and print speeds of up to 120m per minute, equating to 20,000 products per hour.

"In terms of a moderate initial investment, low running costs and a high quality of print output, the K150 offers an extremely affordable and flexible high performance product for printers requiring a range of late stage variable data applications in the addressing and mailing sectors.  Users also benefit from the K150's unparalleled flexibility and ease of integration into existing lines," says David Ellen.

With more than 100,000 installations worldwide, Domino's A-Series is the world's best-selling continuous ink jet printer.  Designed to meet the stringent product specifications of commercial printers, the versatile A-Series CP is typically used for numbering and personalization in a wide range of applications including bindery, mailing, tickets, tags and labels, postal and games management.

David Ellen concludes, "The latest range of Domino in-line ink jet solutions being presented at Graph Expo 2008 represent the culmination of 30 years of dedication, expertise and product innovation."
