Press release from the issuing company

New York City, N.Y. Richard Krasner, President of the Graphic Communications Scholarship Foundation announced the time and date for the 2011 9th Annual GRAPHIC COMMUNICATIONS SCHOLARSHIP, AWARD AND CAREER ADVANCEMENT FOUNDATION, INC., “Future of Graphics” Scholarship Awards Celebration.

The event will be held at the Hearst Tower, 3rd Floor Atrium, Joseph Urban Theater, located at 300 West 57th Street, New York, New York. On June 23rd, 2011.  The reception begins at 5:30 pm with the actual awards celebration commencing at 6:15 pm.

“Over the past 9 years our Foundation has awarded more than 75 students with monetary support allowing them to continue their education and fulfill their defined dreams. In the end it may be best to allow the students to present the program in their own words” says Krasner.

“The GC Scholarship Foundation has greatly broadened my view of the graphic world and has, more than anything else, been an encouragement in my determination of becoming a graphic designer.  Holding a place in the art world used to be a mirage to me, but by being a part of this foundation I have discovered it is something very close in reach.  It has helped close some of the uncertain guesswork and lead me to open doors to my future.  The GCSF has shown me that there are people willing to believe in me and stand by the type of work that I do."
-Rachel Cutler, Sophomore, Parsons The New School For Design, April 2011, Two Year Repeat GCSF Repeat Scholarship Recipient.

"As a graphic design student, the GCSF has played a vital role in supporting my creative education at the School of Visual Arts. By providing financial aid, the Foundation has been helping students like myself afford to go to the best schools in New York to pursue their dreams. The Foundation not only encourages scholars to succeed creatively, but also academically. In December of 2010, I submitted my Holiday Poster design for the IDEAlliance/P3 Holiday fund-raising luncheon, with proceeds going to GCSF.  At the event, I got to meet working professionals in the field of graphic communications. It gave me the opportunity to talk and connect with people who seek to help students succeed, in ways including internships or job offers. I am grateful to be part of the GCSF and sincerely hope that it continues to support the arts, whether in print form or digital."
-Andrew Teoh, Junior, School of Visual Arts, April 2011, Three Year GCSF Repeat Scholarship Recipient.
