Wyndeham Wins New Three-Year Contract for The Economist

Press release from the issuing company

LONDON – Wyndeham Group announces that it has secured a new three-year contract to print The Economist magazine and associated publications. The award of this work follows a tender process during which The Economist Group evaluated a number of options.

The Economist, with a weekly circulation of 210,000, will continue to be produced by Wyndeham Peterborough (formerly St Ives Peterborough). The company specialises in producing high volume weekly publications using two Lithoman IV 64/72pp heatset web offset presses and a Ferag UniDrum gatherer-stitcher.

Sharon Simpson, International Production Director at The Economist, said: "The print market in the UK is under severe stress and it is vital that we continue to provide our customers with a high level of consistent service. Therefore, we must continue to support our print partners to sustain our magazine businesses for the foreseeable future. We look forward to our continued partnership with the excellent team in Peterborough who have provided us with outstanding service for more than 20 years."

Paul Utting, Chief Executive Officer of Wyndeham Group, commented: "We are absolutely delighted to secure production of this growing and prestigious magazine for another three-year term, particularly after the extensive review process which preceded this award. Clearly, this is a vote of confidence in our Peterborough business and the Wyndeham Group generally. We are particularly pleased that we have been able to get to this position so soon after our acquisition of the St Ives Web division."
