Nexpress 2100 Digital Press Sets Single-Month Production Record For North America

Press release from the issuing company

KENNESAW, Ga. – January 22, 2004 -- Parker Pad and Printing Ltd., of Toronto, Canada, has established a new North American record for digital print volume on a NexPress 2100 from Heidelberg. The company produced an impressive 1.49 million full-color A4-sized impressions in November 2003, representing an average output of nearly 75,000 prints per business day. According to Janis Parker, company vice-president, the NexPress 2100 proved its capabilities – and then some. “We’re pleased that Parker Pad and Printing has set the new record for print volume on a NexPress 2100. Our record-setting month was a direct result of teamwork between our staff and Heidelberg's. I knew that when we selected the NexPress 2100 for our digital solution it would be a good decision.” Parker continued, “From a production standpoint, the advantages of printing on multiple substrates and outputting already-collated documents gave a huge boost to our overall productivity. In fact, we were able to bind at the same speed as we printed.” Among the high-volume projects produced in November of 2003 were several for General Motors of Canada Limited (“GM”). The NexPress 2100 was able to meet GM’s high standards for print quality and reproduction accuracy – and deliver thousands of finished books to meet GM’s needs. Parker Pad and Printing Ltd., is a third-generation firm that was started in 1946 by Frank Parker Sr., Janis Parker’s grandfather. From an original letterpress machine in the basement of his home, the company has grown steadily each year, adding several Heidelberg presses and other equipment to become a full-service printing and finishing operation. As customer needs changed and workflows evolved, the move to digital systems was inevitable. Today Parker Pad offers fast-turnaround short runs on a Heidelberg Digimaster, the NexPress 2100, and other digital solutions. Janis Parker is very pleased with the company’s growth and stresses that customer satisfaction and service are what set Parker Pad apart from the competition. “Last month we completed a move into a new 37,000 square foot facility, with all operations now under one roof. Our focus is on continuing to meet the needs of new and existing customers more efficiently,” adds Parker. “As we move forward, I know that the NexPress 2100 will be a big part of our business.”
