Avanti’s Print MIS Receives Another JDF Certification

Press release from the issuing company

TORONTO, – Avanti Computer Systems Limited, a leading provider of Print MIS and Web-to-Print solutions, has reached another milestone with CIP4’s MIS to Prepress certification of Avanti’s Version 12.2 Graphic Arts Management system. Print providers working with Avanti and JDF-supported prepress equipment, can ensure smooth integration of workflows from prepress through to postpress, resulting in decreased touch-points, increased accuracy and the ability to move towards complete production automation.

“Ensuring correct and accurate JDF structure is extremely important for all JDF workflows. A JDF-certified product like Avanti’s MIS system, guarantees a certain level of JDF/JMF interoperability, reducing set-up time while allowing for expanded JDF workflow capabilities. Avanti, with their MIS to Prepress ICS certification, has shown they can integrate prepress workflows efficiently while capturing accurate costing information,” says Brandon M. Iskey, JDF Product Certification Program Administrator at PIA (Printing Industries of America).

Avanti’s software underwent a stringent testing process by PIA (the certification body for CIP4) and was officially certified by the CIP4 Organization (International Cooperation for the Processes in Prepress, Press and Postpress) last week for its ability to seamlessly communicate with prepress equipment through JMF and JDF (Job Messaging Format and Job Definition Format), two Interoperability Conformance Specifications (ICS) published by CIP4 and used to translate job requirements from the MIS to the prepress equipment.

“We are pleased to achieve this additional certification as we are committed to ensuring our product meets the highest standard for interoperability and continues to be the most open MIS system available on the market today. The fact that this is CIP4’s 50th certification is rewarding as well, given how committed Avanti is to the JDF standard.” says Patrick Bolan, CEO of Avanti and CIP4 Board Member. “As we see more customers investing in automation, it is critical that we continue to evolve our system to be well positioned to integrate at all points in the workflow,” adds Patrick.

“By using JDF certified solutions, print providers can be confident that their entire workflow will run smoothly from prepress to press and postpress. Companies like Avanti invested a lot of time and money to achieve this certification so their customers will have a ‘Quality Assurance Stamp’ ensuring that the different applications they count on to run their shop, can work together,” said Dr. Mark Bohan, Vice President, Technology and Research, at PIA.
