DuPont CyrelFAST Helps Printer Create Great Graphics, Protects Environment

Press release from the issuing company

January 20, 2004 - Using DuPont CyrelFAST technology, Sam Chung & Associates (SC&A) of Mississauga, Ontario, prints eye-popping packages while boosting productivity and protecting the environment through the elimination of solvents. The company, which provides graphic designs, proofing and plates, uses digital technology to work with printers down the road and halfway around the world. The packages printed with SC&A plates include shopping bags used in Disney retail stores. "Once we have approval of a color proof, we can create a digital plate ourselves or prepare a file and transfer it via e-mail to a plate maker anywhere in the world in a matter of minutes," Sam Chung explains. "We can look at proofs at the same time and create a plate that will look the same, no matter where it is printed." "The trend is toward using digital technology which, while providing productivity benefits, also eliminates the use of solvents that have to be reclaimed," Sam adds. "I'm happy because the environment is a winner." DuPont Imaging Technologies is helping drive the revolution in high-end flexographic printing with the CyrelFAST brand digital flexographic plate-making system. By combining the productivity benefits of thermal processing with the print quality and efficiency of digital workflow, this technology provides significant improvements in the plate room and on the printing press. CyrelFAST benefits the environment by eliminating the need for solvents and other chemicals typically required to produce flexographic printing plates. Plates processed in the CyrelFAST thermal developer can be made up to 70 percent faster than conventional solvent washout systems without the use, storage and recycling of wet chemistry. "This is the only plate-making solution available in the packaging market that provides the workflow benefits and superior print quality of digital technology as well as the environmental advantages of thermal processing," said Roseann Salasin, global business manager, DuPont CyrelFAST.
