"The Paper Effect" Contributes to Recovery of the Llobregat River

Press release from the issuing company

Thanks to the Torraspapel initiative, more than 4,000 people have learned about how paper contributes to the sustainability of the planet and made possible the reforestation of a riverbank forest in Catalonia.

Torraspapel, part of the Lecta Group, carries out numerous initiatives to help raise awareness of the need for environmental protection. "The Paper Effect" campaign, which has enabled more than 4,000 people in 72 countries to discover how paper contributes to a sustainable future, is in keeping with this policy. Torraspapel also wanted to offer participants in the campaign the possibility of taking part in a reforestation project, specifically the restoration of the banks of the Llobregat River where it passes through the metropolitan area of Barcelona. Participants in the reforestation project received a personalized diploma in acknowledgment of their efforts signed by Spanish NGO AccióNatura and Torraspapel.

Forest restoration is a pillar of Torraspapel's social and environmental commitment. For years, Torraspapel, in conjunction with the AccióNatura, has been promoting reforestation projects and volunteer days in which our customers, employees and their families have participated, resulting in the planting of more than 20,500 trees on the Iberian Peninsula and in Brazil. These actions are in keeping with the company's corporate mission and values of social and environmental responsibility.
