CGS Takes the Lead in Graphic Arts Training

Press release from the issuing company

For over 70 years, the public School of the Graphics Industry (Escuela de la Industria Gráfica,  www.educagrafica.cl) has provided technical education, tuition-free, to hundreds of young graphic arts professionals. The school's four-year program prepares hundreds of students for careers in graphic design, prepress and print production.

One of the school's instructors, color management expert José Bodet, first encountered ORIS Color Tuner at a training event in Valencia, Spain, in 2003. "I immediately saw that it was a superior, 'second generation' solution for digital color proofing," he said. "I was impressed by its efficient results, achieving extremely close color match, very easily and efficiently. ORIS' iterative process for creating and matching a profile is a major innovation."

Bodet sought a way to introduce ORIS technology in Chile, working in concert with inkjet manufacturers. As a result, CGS and bLogik Ltda., the local CGS Authorized Distributor, recognized the opportunity and donated a complete ORIS proofing system, which Bodet will use to help over 150 students going to work for companies throughout the region.

"Chile, and the entire region, needs trained professionals in every aspect of printing and publishing," Bodet said. "Thanks to CGS' donation of technology and support, we can prepare our students in making accurate, cost-effective proofs. ORIS also helps our students match digital press output to offset quality. For a school with limited financial resources, the ORIS donation is a blessing."
