WoodWing announces support for Adobe Creative Suite 5.5

Press release from the issuing company

Zaandam, The Netherlands – WoodWing Software, a leading supplier of innovative cross-media publishing solutions, greeted the announcement of Adobe's Creative Suite 5.5 with the news that all of WoodWing's products will soon be fully compatible.

The different versions of the CS 5.5 product line offer a wide range of interesting new features for print, online and mobile publishing and deliver essential innovation in the fields of Flash, HTML5, audio and video, mobile apps and digital publishing. "The new version of the Adobe Creative Suite further extends the base foundation on which our solutions, such as our cross-media publishing system Enterprise, are built," said Erik Schut, President of WoodWing Software. "In conjunction with the release of Adobe CS 5.5, our solutions will help publishers improve the efficiency of their production processes for periodical publications even more, regardless of whether they're print or digital. This is particularly important as tablet publishing is becoming an integral part of every publisher's daily business."

The expected efficiency gain and cost reduction is based on the tight integration of CS 5.5 with WoodWing's publishing system Enterprise, including the content management application Content Station. "The upswing of multi-channel publishing results in an increasing number of media files and versions," Schut added. "This trend requires a solid database-managed approach, embedded in a collaborative workflow environment with secure version control. Scalability and flexibility to address current and future media channels is vital."

Adobe CS 5.5 is now offering out-of-the-box, file system-based tablet publishing functionality. WoodWing's Tablet Publishing Solution is offering additional Smart Magazine panels in InDesign to increase the workflow efficiency, especially for periodical tablet publications. Furthermore, the tight integration of WoodWing's tablet tools with the Enterprise database provides unique workgroup usage. WoodWing also brings the interactivity to the next level by allowing nested interactivities, like links in scrollable areas, scrollable areas on hotspots and nested hotspots.

WoodWing's Tablet Publishing Solution enables publishers to create tablet publications for multiple platforms, such as iOS, Android, HP webOS, and Blackberry Tablet OS as well as HTML5. Another big advantage is the fact that all different tablet versions can be created based on just one InDesign file, using WoodWing's innovative multi-screen functionality. WoodWing has paved the way to standardization in the field of multi-platform tablet publishing by the recent release of the Open Format for Interactive Publications (ofip).

CS 5.5-compatible versions of WoodWing's solutions close to beta
WoodWing is close to the beta stage of CS 5.5 versions of its Digital Magazine plug-ins for InDesign and its Enterprise publishing system. Content Station, the content management application built on top of Enterprise, already supports the upcoming CS 5.5 version. WoodWing's renowned productivity plug-ins, such as Smart Styles and Smart Layout, are also expected to enter the beta stage shortly.
