GMG and Digital Color Source Announce Distribution Agreement

Press release from the issuing company

Randolph, Massachusetts (February 3, 2004) - GMG USA, a subsidiary of Germany’s GMG GmbH & Co. KG, announces that Digital Color Source (DCS) has signed a U.S. distribution agreement to build a national reseller network for GMG digital color proofing solutions. Digital Color Source (DCS) will immediately begin selling the GMG ColorProof System, which is already the de-facto standard for contract-color digital proofing within Europe’s printing industry. In a related arrangement, Chromaticity has agreed to provide technical support for DCS resellers, and install and train end users on an as-needed basis. A leading developer of high-end color management solutions, GMG has more than 3,500 systems in use worldwide, spanning industry users from advertising agencies to prepress houses and printers. GMG ColorProof, a color managed software proofing system, provides the most accurate way of calibrating digital inkjet proofing engines to produce contract color proofs, precisely color-matched to the printing process. Its GMG DotProof option enables output of digital halftone contract proofs, complete with original screen data, on inkjet printers. Recently, GMG ColorProof was granted SWOP (Specifications for Web Offset Publications) certification for its digital proofing solution ColorProof driving Epson's StylusPro 7600, 9600 and 10600 model inkjet printers. Digital Color Source, which is headquartered in Higley, Arizona and has sales offices throughout the country, is a distributor of color technologies and services to the graphic arts and allied industries. With a sales staff that is highly skilled and well-trained, DCS is able to provide even the most color-critical customers with the tools they need to stay competitive. DCS has partnered with Chromaticity for professional support services for the various color technology solutions that DCS customers implement. Chromaticity’s scope includes color management; color measurement; digital, remote and soft proofing; color reproduction; color editing; process control and a color help desk. “GMG has a strong history delivering successful contract-quality digital color proofing solutions to large litho, gravure and flexo printers. GMG’s partnership with Digital Color Source shows a true commitment to the U.S. market. Certainly, GMG ColorProof’s recent SWOP certification will also be helpful in the States,” comments John D. Graf, DCS senior vice president, sales and marketing. “With our expertise in color and with the exceptional product lines we have to offer, we’re confident that we can integrate these technologies into the most color-critical production environments and give our customers the solutions they need.” “We expect, with its considerable knowledge of color management, that DCS will help build a strong reseller network for GMG in the States,” says Jim Summers, GMG USA general manager. “The team of DCS and Chromaticity has done an exceptional job building U.S. representation for other companies. More importantly, we believe DCS provides the support to truly help end users build competent digital contract proofing solutions.”
