KODAK Increases thruput of MAGNUS VLF QUANTUM Platesetter

Press release from the issuing company

Rochester, NY, August 29 -- One of the fastest fully automated very large format platesetters just got faster. The KODAK MAGNUS VLF QUANTUM Platesetter with X-speed configuration and KODAK Automatic Pallet Loader for MAGNUS VLF Platesetters now delivers even greater plate throughput of up to 58 plates (40.5 in.) per hour.

“Increased plate throughput, combined with benchmark standards in automation, reliability and imaging quality, enables very large format printers to achieve maximum productivity and output performance with the MAGNUS VLF QUANTUM Platesetter,” said Doug Edwards, General Manager and Vice President, Prepress Solutions, Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group, and Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company."

The MAGNUS VLF QUANTUM Platesetter offers several options to enhance automation, including the KODAK Automatic Pallet Loader. For longer continuous operation of the platesetter, the Automatic Pallet Loader loads up to 3,600 plates without manual handling. Other options include semiautomatic operation; ContinuousLoad functionality that allows three plates to be loaded imaged and unloaded simultaneously; dual plate capabilities for imaging two plates at the same time; a Multi-Cassette Unit that holds six trays; and integrated inline punching to both enhance automation and reduce costly errors.

For additional productivity gains, customers can select the Side-Edge Registration feature that allows plates loaded in portrait orientation to be registered on the long edge. The MAGNUS VLF QUANTUM Platesetter also features configurable punch head positioning for increased flexibility.

The MAGNUS VLF QUANTUM Platesetter uses KODAK SQUARESPOT Thermal Imaging Technology to provide excellent imaging quality and minimize the impact of routine prepress variations. SQUARESPOT Imaging Technology delivers stable and reliable plates that stay within tight print manufacturing tolerances.
