Quad/Graphics Plant Named Time's Printer of the Year

Press release from the issuing company

THE ROCK, Ga.--Feb. 2, 2004-- For a second consecutive year, Quad/Graphics' print-production plant in The Rock, Ga., has earned the title "Printer of the Year," as declared by Time Inc., the publisher of popular consumer magazines and a division of Time Warner. The title is sought by printing companies and facilities across the United States and is one of the highest honors a printer can earn for outstanding performance. Quad/Graphics' plant in The Rock earned the honor for weekly production of Sports Illustrated, People, Time and Entertainment Weekly during 2003. Each week, the plant prints more than 2.8 million combined copies of the four popular magazine titles. In determining its Printer of the Year, Time Inc. grades Quad/Graphics and its other printers on quality of product, paper waste and overall turnaround time. "We are extremely proud to receive this award of excellence for the second year running," said Barbara Tyson, The Rock Plant Manager. "Our employees' ability to provide consistent, superior service week in and week out, all year long, speaks volumes of their dedication to our client and their craft. It was a team effort and every employee played a vital role in securing this award of excellence." While this marks the second consecutive year in which Quad/Graphics' The Rock plant has won the Printer of the Year award, Quad/Graphics has earned the honor for the past five consecutive years. The company's Saratoga Springs, N.Y., plant won top honors in 1999, 2000 and 2001. Quad/Graphics also produces Time Inc. work at its Hartford and Lomira, Wis., facilities. Quad/Graphics' Hartford plant prints inserts for Time Inc. weeklies, as well as specials, including Sports Illustrated's high-profile swimsuit edition. Last summer, Quad/Graphics' Lomira facility started printing In Style magazine and specials as part of a multi-year agreement announced in August 2002.
