Suttle-Straus completes $2.6 million equipment upgrade

Press release from the issuing company

Suttle-Straus, a Waunakee based communication company, announced the successful installation of $2.6 million in equipment upgrades and facility enhancements designed to increase efficiency, output and customer convenience. The largest part of the investment is a new 40“ Komori six color plus UV coating printing press, featuring automatic plate changers and color profiling systems. In addition, the company has installed a new Kodak NexPress 3600 digital imaging system as well as a Moll premier folding/finishing system.

“These machine upgrades enable us to achieve shorter make ready times, higher productivity and less spoilage” says Ted Norman, Vice-president of manufacturing. “We can run stocks up to 40 point, an important feature to satisfy increased demand in point of purchase advertising.”

Recognized by Sappi Paper in 2010 as the North American Printer of the Year, Suttle-Straus has a one hundred year history of quality. “These new presses allow us to produce superior quality deliverables in a highly effective way and pass the gains in efficiency along to our customers – which are key during these challenging economic times.” according to John Berthelsen, President.

The new Moll system decreases folding, gluing and assembly time that previously would have required an outside service or hand assembly. This piece of equipment is especially useful in executing tip-ins; one of today’s most sought after marketing tools for delivering personalized offers and coupons. Suttle-Straus is the only print marketing service company in southern Wisconsin with a finisher of this kind.
