CGS and Mimeo.com pioneer enterprise color management for digital print

Press release from the issuing company

Washington, DC - Mimeo.com, the leading printing and distribution company, and CGS Publishing Technologies International have begun a comprehensive approach to more consistent, measurable color output on Mimeo.com's fleet of digital color presses. Using CGS' industry-leading ORIS Certified // Web and ORIS Press Matcher // Web systems, the company will enhance its already high level of service to business print buyers.

Color consistency is a vital component of business document printing, especially where a company's brand and reputation for quality are visible to the public. Mimeo.com has already established a reputation for highly efficient online docu-ment ordering and fulfillment. Digital printing is done at multiple locations, using several different print "engines," including HP Indigo, Xeikon, Kodak Nexpress and HP wide format devices. While each of these devices is capable of high quality color, Mimeo.com sought a means of taking color management to the enterprise level - producing the same high quality color from any device.

Testing and Implementation

Mimeo.com first examined the ORIS product line at GraphExpo 2010, and subse-quently began analyzing color printing conditions across their entire fleet of digital presses. Using ORIS Certified // Web to measure and capture color data, the com-pany determined there would be a significant return on investment from more con-sistent color on their many output devices.

The company then integrated ORIS Press Matcher // Web and ORIS Certified // Web for digital presses at their headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee. The use of Press Matcher allowed each device to achieve consistent, high-quality color, regard-less of the number of impressions, on different press runs or even on devices from different manufacturers.

Mimeo.com is now in the process of implementing ORIS color control and monitor-ing in its other locations, ensuring enterprise-wide color consistency for all of its business customers.
