Rosetta Technologies releases upgrade for return item processing solution

Press release from the issuing company

Tampa, F.L. - Rosetta Technologies, a leading provider of payment solutions, including a full family of certified MICR printers, disbursement software and Check 21 utilities, announced the release of OnSight Decision, an advanced version of their OnSight returns processing system.  This all-in-one solution automates item decisioning while streamlining and simplifying generation of chargeback advices and return items.

OnSight Decision processes re-presentments and chargebacks from X9 electronic cash letters downloaded from the Federal Reserve Bank or other item processors. It cuts financial institutions’ costs and risks by enabling earlier and more accurate review of return items. OnSight Decision features two important new capabilities:

- Rules-Based Decisioning. Rosetta’s proprietary Decisioning Engine takes the work out of manually reviewing each item to determine whether it needs to be re-presented or charged back to the customer. The Decisioning Engine reviews incoming X9 Image Cash Letter (ICL) files, and—based on configurable rules—determines whether the item should be re-presented electronically for payment, printed and mailed as a chargeback, or flagged as an exception requiring manual review.

- Merged Chargeback Letter. The traditional “match and attach” process of sorting and stapling IRDs with advice notices wastes time and money, and exposes institutions to mismatched items being mailed in error to depositors. In contrast, OnSight Decision generates a professionally formatted customer letter that merges the explanation of charges, legal rights, and the return IRD into one complete document. The document is then printed on perforated IRD paper, folded, inserted into a window envelope and mailed.

“We listened to our customers, who said that these features would be of great benefit, reducing labor and paper usage while speeding up their inclearing returns process,” said Rob Hullar, President of Rosetta Technologies.  “Additionally, given changes by the Federal Reserve, many financial institutions today are either trying to decide how they will process their returns, or using systems that expose them to greater losses. OnSight Decision provides earlier warning on insufficient funds and other item risks, plus end-to-end security and control over the entire process, at a price that is affordable for any institution.”

OnSight Decision includes everything a financial institution needs to easily process Fed Receipt items, including printing chargebacks, creating re-presentment files and keeping an audit trail of those processes.  It provides exceptional security and visibility into the entire process. It includes OnSight Decision software, a Rosetta Technologies MICR printer, IRD paper and is covered by a 1 Year warranty.  A low price of $1,399 for the entire solution provides a strong return-on-investment.
