ppi Media launches prepress solution OM kompakt

Press release from the issuing company

Based on its output management system printnet OM, which has already set industry standards in prepress automation, ppi Media, a company of manroland, announced its launch of OM kompakt today. This new prepress product is a pre-configured solution for small and medium-sized newspaper companies that want a future-proof system for their changing business requirements.

OM kompakt offers all the benefits of an automated production control system, including straightforward order management, page pairing, barcode generation, form proofing and built-in ink zone calculation. Whereas low-cost solutions are based on hot folders, OM kompakt is database driven and consistently adheres to a planning-based approach, taking technical production facilities in the pressroom into account.

"We spoke with a lot of customers and listened carefully to their needs so we were able to design a solution that can be installed and configured fully remotely and has very low hardware requirements. We also call OM kompakt printnet OM's little brother, because it is a starter application, scalable and easy to extend when newspaper business demands are shifting. OM kompakt sets a new example for automation in prepress. This, together with new leasing and licensing options, enables our customers to achieve an ROI of under 12 months," says Markus Feldenkirchen, manager of ppi Media's operations in North and South America.

ppi Media at America East

OM kompakt can be seen at booth 88 at the America East Show, Hershey, PA on March 14-16. As one of the market leaders in the field of automated newspaper production, providing solutions for digital and print publishing, ppi Media will also present workflow systems in the areas of planning, advertising, editorial, prepress, tracking and reporting, mobile and services.
