DDAP Kicks Off The New Year With A New Website

Press release from the issuing company

MARBLEHEAD, MA January 13, 2004 -- The Digital Distribution of Advertising for Publications (DDAP) Association announced today the launch of the new DDAP website, redesigned to provide quick access to DDAP news announcements, initiatives, events, and resources and put a wealth of information at your fingertips. Featured on the www.DDAP.org home page is a “News" column, featuring the latest news on DDAP hot topics from the adoption of PDF/X to new directions in color management. Links to the DDAP Digital Ad Forum, PDF/X.com, and the Membership areas of the site are prominently sited at the top of the page, with links to DDAP Initiatives, Events, Resources, and Tools immediately below. The new navigation links directly to PDF/X.com, providing updated resources to new adopters of PDF/X, including a new PDF/X FAQ, DDAP Universal PPD and other PDF/X support tools. Working with publishers, prepress providers and printers, the DDAP Association has updated its Universal PPD (PostScript Printer Description) to enhance digital ad production using a Device Independent PPD, alleviating the inconvenience of using different PPD's for a single job and ensuring "good file" creation. The PPD "How To" procedures for the most commonly used application programs will work in concert with the soon-to-be unveiled PDF/X 1-2-3, DDAP’s new “quick start” implementation program for PFD/X. In a continuing effort to build even more value in DDAP membership, the newly-enhanced "Members Only" area offers DDAP members a free download of the "Digital Delivers" workflow tutorial, a recap of the 2003 Annual Conference (presentations and handouts), along with event and product discounts and other enhancements. “Improved navigation and functionality were key goals for this redesign,” says DDAP chair Michael Rodriquez. “The Website Redesign Initiative committee, working with Rochester Institute of Technology intern Ben Johnson, has developed a important resource for the graphic communications industry that provides easy access to critical information about standards-based digital file exchange. I invite members and non members to explore DDAP’s new site, take the short survey and send us your feedback and suggestions: http://www.ddap.org/auxiliary/feedback.php.” DDAP executive director Barbara Hanapole adds, “DDAP will be launching a new sponsorship drive for the website. We sincerely thank those companies who have supported the DDAP mission in the past and look to new website as an exciting new venue to grow future partnerships.”
