EcoBinder from Kugler-Womako at Paperworld and digi:media

Press release from the issuing company

Nürtingen, Germany – Under the slogan "Transparent Innovation", Kugler-Womako presented the prototype of the EcoBinder binding machine at Paperworld in Frankfurt, Germany. The binding machine will be presented again in April at the digi:media trade fair in Düsseldorf, Germany.

With its new EcoBinder, Kugler-Womako is setting off into a totally new direction in regards to binding technology. The binding itself is made of 100 percent paper and meets the requirements for sustainability.

With its EcoBinder, the company from Nürtingen, Germany is not only introducing a new product into the binding sector, but also a new machine technology. As part of the patented new development, a rotary table is used instead of the linear arrangement that is the standard. The advantage: Because of the circular arrangement of the individual stations, the bound inner body of the book comes back to its original position, which allows the table to be easily operated by just a single person.

The new paper binding gives end-users in the stationery sector the option of using environmentally friendly products.

The binding was presented to customers around the world during the last few months and received the Innovation Award from the German Printing Industry at the end of last year. During the four days of the fair, the visitors' interest to see the prototype in action was accordingly strong.

Wenke Terbuyken, Marketing Manager at Kugler-Womako said, "The response to our paper binding is very positive, especially the feedback from the marketing and advertising sectors. Because it can be printed individually, specialists estimate the market potential of the binding as being outstanding."

At digi:media, in addition to its EcoBinder, Kugler-Womako will also present a new Technical Improvement Program (T.I.P.) for reducing changeover times. The "Quick Change" T.I.P. can be retrofitted on all existing machines in the ProBind series and can reduce changeover times by up to 50 percent.

Kugler-Womako will be represented at digi:media from April 7 to 9, 2011, together with its sister companies E.C.H. Will, Winkler+Dünnebier and W+D Direct Marketing Solutions, at the Körber PaperLink booth – Hall 6, Booth B39.
