W+D and Illies host Open House event together in Japan

Press release from the issuing company

Neuwied – Winkler+Dünnebier (W+D), W+D Direct Marketing Solutions and Illies, their representative on location, invited current and potential customers to Tokyo to an Open House event end of January.

The event motto – "Tomoni kaizen – improving together" – indicated immediately that the hosts were placing a special focus on partnership and new technological solutions. For the first time since the takeover of Buhrs ITM in October, the two W+D companies joined forces to present their innovative technology solutions designed for producing, printing and inserting envelopes and pockets.

Visitors had an opportunity to experience three solutions under actual production conditions. The W+D 320 BE, a modular machine for producing printed envelopes and pockets with windows, was shown for the first time with a handling robot at the blank feed. The W+D 232, the new two-color offset printing machine for envelopes and pockets, features short set-up times, excellent printing quality and is very user friendly. The third solution presented was the W+D BB700 pocket, a multi-format, high-performance inserting system: It is especially designed to process large products, including pockets in C4 format (K2), which are particularly popular in Japan.

In addition, the possibilities for upgrading and maintaining existing systems with the help of the Technical Improvement Program (T.I.P.), remote-maintenance solutions and original service parts rounded out the program.

Dr. Achim Wapniewski, Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing at W+D, was very satisfied: "Together with Illies, we have been successful in reaching a large number of customers," he said, after the event. "Our talks focused primarily on ideas about how to work together to further improve the productivity of our customers' internal value-added chain."

In cooperation with W+D Direct Marketing Solutions GmbH, W+D is now able to offer suitable system solutions for the major part of the mailing supply chain – from the manufacture and printing of envelopes to the insertion of envelopes prior to distribution.

With this step, W+D is strategically strengthening its leading position in the manufacture of production systems for envelopes. At the same time, the company is sustainably reinforcing the long-term position of envelopes, also in future applications of direct mailing and direct marketing.
