RealTimeImage Announces Support for Apogee & EFI/Best Workflow Formats

Press release from the issuing company

October 2, 2003 – CHICAGO – RealTimeImage has expanded what is already the largest online proofing file format support library with new support for Agfa Apogee and Electronics for Imaging (EFI) Best workflow file formats. Beginning immediately, anyone using either Agfa Apogee or EFI’s Best Colorproof may view in hi-res, annotate, collaborate on, and approve Apogee PrintDrive 1-Bit TIFF files or BRP (Best RIP Proof) format files using RealTimeProof solutions. In addition to files created using Agfa Apogee and Best workflows, RealTimeProof supports PDF, DCS, EPS, Postscript, TIFF/IT, TIFF, Scitex CT/NLW, and JPEG formats.   Yehuda Messinger, RealTimeImage’s Executive Vice President, Graphic Arts, says, “We share many of the same customers as Agfa Apogee and EFI, and the number of sites requesting integration of these solutions was growing rapidly. We are very pleased to extend our RealTimeProof capabilities to Agfa Apogee and EFI Best Colorproof users.” Agfa Apogee PrintDrive Support Agfa Apogee PrintDrive 1-bit TIFF output files, typically used to produce plate-ready files, can now be displayed by RealTimeProof. . This feature is activated on-the-fly when users upload 1-bit TIFFs from Apogee PrintDrive. RealTimeProof then combines the CMYK files using a JDF link file. When the user clicks on the JDF file, the separations will be combined into one composite file. As a result, fully-imposed and screened output proofs can be viewed and proofed online. Most 1-bit TIFF files can be quite large: about 100MB per color or more. Using award-winning and patented RealTimeProof technology, these 1-bit TIFF files can be displayed in seconds using any internet connection. Best Colorproof Support Best Colorproof customers can now use RealTimeProof directly with Best’s proprietary file format, BRP, resulting in a complete, color-managed, soft and hard-copy remote proofing workflow. A single BRP file can now be used for both on-screen proofing and, via the Best Colorproof system, hard copy output. BRP files are JDF-enabled; and contain color information that allows the files to be sent to any Best Colorproof system with color accuracy maintained.
