Worldwide Debut For Pitney Bowes IntelliJet 20 At Hunkeler Innovation Days

Press release from the issuing company

Windsor, UK - Pitney Bowes will exhibit the IntelliJet 20 Printing System at the Hunkeler Innovation Days being held in Lucerne, Switzerland from 14th-17th February 2011 (Hall 2 Stand P07).

The printing system will be displayed as the centre piece of the White Paper Factory environment which will show customers how plain white paper and envelopes can be used to print and mail all customer communications in a highly cost effective manner. The White Paper Factory solution increases efficiency and reduces costs by eliminating the use of pre-printed paper and envelope stocks.

Exhibited in conjunction with Hewlett Packard, the IntelliJet 20 high speed digital colour inkjet printing system will help more companies generate full colour customer communications and coexist with existing monochrome applications. The system offers a 20.5 inch (520mm) print width with up to 400 feet (122m) per minute monochrome, or 200 feet (61m) per minute colour print speeds. Industry leading print quality with resolution at 1200 x 600 dpi is not compromised by speed of printing and outstanding results can be achieved without using more costly inkjet treated paper stocks when used on regular offset and laser stocks with HP Bonding Agent.

Combined with the Pitney Bowes Production Intelligence software, the IntelliJet 20 allows mailers to integrate print and mail into a single end-to-end workflow. The software merges application design information and data, enabling documents to be printed in a single step using only plain white paper. It removes the need to use dedicated pre-printed base stationery and envelopes and enables the mingling of different applications in the same print run.

Printed output can then pass straight to finishing- with no wait time, further increasing efficiency of production processes. At Hunkeler Innovation Days, this will be demonstrated through use of the Pitney Bowes MPS mail inserter.

Also on display will be the Pitney Bowes Print+ Messenger Colour Inkjet System which also benefits from HP inkjet printing technology and is critical to the mail fulfilment stage in the White Paper Factory solution. The system prints high-resolution colour onto the outside of the envelope as it exits the inserter. The new technology means that only plain white envelopes are needed. All necessary information such as customised marketing offers, company logos, mailing and return addresses and postal barcodes, can be printed in full colour directly onto the mailpiece.

The technology that makes up the White Paper Factory solution allows companies to include colour marketing messages which make use of hitherto redundant white space both on transactional documents and on the outside of the envelope, transforming the mailpiece into a dynamic communication tool. Companies are now able to capitalise on the high open and read rates produced by colour and also offers potential in terms of cross-selling and up-selling to customers, creating further value whilst deriving significant savings from co-mingling their output to optimise postal discounts.

The White Paper Factory enables businesses to save valuable production time and eliminate costly storage and obsolescence of pre-printed paper, envelopes and promotional inserts. Any change to corporate design or branding can result in waste of pre-printed paper materials. By using only white paper, this waste is eliminated.

Historically, marketers have pushed for personalisation and customisation of communications, whilst mailroom operators have sought low cost, efficient processes which promote standardisation of software, hardware and supplies. The White Paper Factory solution helps to achieve all of these goals.

Pitney Bowes will also offer attendees to the show a first-hand look at its range of Production Intelligence software – the industry-leading family of integrated solutions that link print and mail to improve control and efficiency of document workflows across an enterprise.

Ronald van Hees, European Marketing Director, Pitney Bowes comments, "The White Paper Factory solution is accessible to operations of all sizes as every customer can benefit from the resulting cost savings and increased efficiency. One of the major advantages of the solution is that elements can be introduced gradually, and a complete overhaul of customer operations is not necessary. For example, the Print+ Messenger provides an excellent starting point for mailers to enhance their communications and achieve added value, with very little operational change.

"Our collaboration with HP and the resulting solutions allows customers to completely integrate variable colour print and mail. Relevant, personalised colour communications offer added value in terms of higher opening rates and enhanced brand recognition. This technology allows our customers to take advantage of these benefits, whilst at the same time gaining from postal savings, all driven by the industry-leading intelligence software our customers have come to expect from Pitney Bowes."
